Howdy Possum Fans,
If you live in the Triad, make a date with your radio this Sunday, April 5, because Possum Jenkins will be hitting the airwaves courtesy of 94.1 and Lisa Dames on her show LOCALS ONLY. Last week, the Possum van made its way to the Magic 94.1 studios in Lexington to record a couple of live tunes and chat with Lisa. While we sounded like a bunch of jackasses during the interview segment, the picking was pretty good. If you tune in, you'll hear us play one of our brand new songs, "Ramble Still" which is slated to be released on our next record later this year.
Locals Only airs from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. and features tons of great music from artists and bands that play all over the Piedmont of North Carolina. The show is a great chance to really dig into some of the area's best songwriters and players without have to leave the comfort of your house or car. Plus, one you've discovered some of the other great talent in the area, you CAN go and support them live.
While we were in the studio, Lisa managed to coerce us into recording an acoustic version of her favorite Possum song, "Greasy Spoon." Despite a few missed lyrics and the studio being hotter than hell, we managed to get a pretty good take. Look for the new "unplugged" version of "Greasy Spoon" to be posted on MySpace and Reverb Nation sometime this weekend.
Speaking of the new record, Possum Jenkins is heading into the studio next weekend, so please send us all your good vibes and wish us luck. We'll take all the help we can get!
On the live show front, we've just booked shows at Boone Saloon for Friday, May 1, and The Garage for Friday, June 5, with Brooklyn band Andy Friedman & The Other Failures. These guys are awesome, so give them a listen at www.myspace.com/otherfailures. We also just booked a pair of shows down around Greenville, S.C. for later in the year, so if you know folks in that neck of the woods, give 'em a heads up and tell them that the Possum is heading their way.
Well, that's about it for now. With luck, we'll have some updates on the record in another week or two and also a new batch of T-shirts to sell on the way before the month is over.
Also, look for a newly redesigned PossumJenkinsBand.com in the next couple months. We're just going hog wild around here!!
