Hey y’all,
We here at Possum Central hope everyone is having a good
summer so far. If you’re in Western North Carolina, you’ve become accustomed by
now to taking an umbrella everywhere you go.
Thanks a bunch to everyone who came out to our recent show
at The Garage with Andy Friedman & The Other Failures and Joe Blevins, as
well as our show a few weeks back at Boone Saloon. We had a blast at both and
are hoping that Andy and the band will have us up to Brooklyn for a show
sometime this fall.
We’ve got a slew of shows coming up beginning with our
second appearance at the Twin City Ribfest this Saturday, June 13, at 5:00 p.m.
Next, we’ll be back in Boone for a pair of shows on Friday, June 26 (The Jones
House, Murphy’s) before we head south to Charlotte for another rowdy night at
Puckett’s Farm Equipment.
Possum Jenkins will be making a long awaited return to
Virginia with a show in Roanoke on Friday, July 10, at Awful Arthur’s followed
by a few private shows for some of our favorite people in the world.
Believe it or not, we’ve been working hard on our new record
with our new best friend Doug Williams at EMR Recorders in Winston-Salem. To be
blunt, Doug wasn’t our first choice to make the record with, but I think all
the band members agree that at this point, we can’t imagine having done it with
anyone else.
As of right now, we’ve got 14 tracks in the can but we’re
not sure how many will actually make it on to the record. Some are in the midst
of being mixed down while others are still getting a few finishing touches
added on. The record will be called Collection of Bad Habits. And at the risk of sounding overly confident, it
will have been worth the wait.
Mark your calendars for our official CD release party at The
Garage in Winston-Salem on Saturday August 8. Joining us will be rising Athens,
Ga. band The Corduroy Road. More info on that to come soon.
