Who Gives Kudos:

We believe that EDM --Electronic Dance Music-- should be accessible to anyone of any age. We also believe that we should cooperate with the local laws.

Current curfew laws in the City of Phoenix state:

Sec. 22-1. Curfew– Juveniles under sixteen years; exceptions.

It shall be unlawful for any juvenile under the age of sixteen years to be, remain or loiter in, about or upon any place in the City away from the dwelling house or usual place of abode of said juvenile, between the hours of 10:00 p.m and 5:00 a.m. of the following day; provided, however, that the provisions of this section do not apply to said juvenile when accompanied by his parent, guardian or other adult person having the care, custody or supervision of said juvenile, or where said juvenile is on an emergency errand, or where said juvenile is on reasonable, legitimate and specific business or activity directed or permitted by his parent, guardian or other adult person having the care, custody or supervision of said juvenile.
(Ord. No. G-865, § 2; Ord. No. G-3620, § 1)

Sec. 22-2. Curfew– Juveniles sixteen years of age or older; exceptions.

It shall be unlawful for any juvenile sixteen years of age or older and under the age of eighteen years to be, remain or loiter in, about or upon any place in the City away from the dwelling house or usual place of abode of said juvenile, between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 5:00 a.m.; provided, however, that the provisions of this section do not apply to any emancipated minor or to a juvenile accompanied by his parent, guardian or other adult person having the care, custody or supervision of said juvenile; or where said juvenile is on an emergency errand, or where said juvenile is on reasonable, legitimate and specific business or activity directed or permitted by his parent, guardian or other adult person having the care, custody or supervision of said juvenile.

(Ord. No. G-865, § 2; Ord. No. G-3620, § 2)

Sec. 22-3. Curfew– Responsibility of parent or guardian.

It shall be unlawful for the parent, guardian or other adult person having the care, custody or supervision of a juvenile to permit such juvenile to be, remain or loiter in, about or upon any place in the City away from the dwelling house or usual place of abode of said juvenile in violation of sections 22-1 and 22-2; provided, however, that the provisions of this section do not apply when the juvenile is an emancipated minor, or when the juvenile is accompanied by his parent, guardian or other person having the care, custody or supervision of the juvenile; or where the juvenile is on an emergency errand, or where the juvenile is on reasonable, legitimate and specific business or activity directed or permitted by his parent, guardian or other person having the care, custody or supervision of such juvenile.
(Ord. No. G-865, § 2)

As such, we believe that events should be 18+, however, in the spirit of welcoming everyone, we would like to encourage under-age ravers to bring a parent or legal guardian with them and stay with them at all times, and we ask promoters to adopt a policy where parents are charged half-price to encourage them to attend. We believe that an open-door policy will foster and encourage a strong relationship with the community at large. We are a counter-culture, not an organized crime syndicate, as the major media has portrayed us.

We would like to encourage parents to work with local promoters to throw "under-age" events in controlled environments with chaperones. There are events like this currently being thrown and we encourage more of them. We hope that through these efforts we can bring young ravers the headlining talent seen at major raves. This will take money and serious organization, but it can be done.

We do not condone nor condemn drug use among adults; we do NOT approve of minors using drugs. We want EVERYONE to be educated and given the facts on the drugs available at raves. Please be aware that raves are not the only place where drugs are easily accessible--they are easily accessible at ALL music events, except perhaps at Wiggles concerts, but you can bet that there are parents out there who dabble as well. In other words, recreational drug use is far more common and pervasive than you think. Know what is out there, what it does and share this information with others. Knowledge is power.

Over the last few years, events have taken on more of a sexual tone and some have been sexually themed. We do not advocate minors being invited to participate in these events, however, if parents are willing to attend and supervise their teens, then we support the parents' decisions. If you are going to "hook up" with people from raves, please use protection. We are not immune to spreading STDs and we have known people who have personally contracted and passed around disease. BE SMART-you are not immune, you are not invincible.

We don't feel that any of the things we stand for are particularly outrageous and counter what rave culture is all about. Some people feel that we are restrictive; we appreciate their opinion, however, our first priority is to protect and keep people of all ages in the rave scene--especially minors--safe. If you don't agree with our method fine, but please understand and respect our intentions.

Thank you--

I'm curious about the distinctions being drawn by your organization between the difference of taking a "neutral" stand on drug use for 18+ ages and saying NO to drugs under the age of 18.

This distinction makes none between whether or not drug use is what is wrong, but the fact that if someone under the age of 18 is doing it, it is therefore wrong. That doesn't seem logically consistent, so it would seem to me then that the motivation behind making this distinction is that of responsibility for promoters, et al (who would be deemed legally responsible should someone 18 and under end up having legal problems).

Drugs are illegal period.

18 or 16.

Thus, it makes sense that if this movement were a moral one against the illegality of drugs, it would apply to all ages and all drugs, regardless.
That not being the case, does it make sense to conclude that our major concern is for those of us 17 years, 364 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes, 59 seconds old and younger being a legal liability for those of us 18 and over who are throwing raves in Arizona?

Yes, drugs are illegal regardless of age, we realize that.

We also realize that the law does not deter people from doing them anyway. As such, we believe in providing as much accurate information to people as possible so that they understand the risks and dangers--however high or low they might be--associated with their use.

We take the stance we do with regard to minors and drugs because their brains have not reached maturity (full development) until the age of 18--and in some cases, they are not fully developed by the age of 18. Reason and logic dictate that if you are under the age of 18 and your mind hasn't fully developed, then it is probably not a good idea to tamper with psychoactive substances that could alter or slow that development. This is neither a political nor moral stance, but rather a scientific one.

We prefer to remain apolitical as far as the organization is concerned. If you care to discuss with us our individual beliefs and politics with regard to drugs, then you may contact either myself (Miss Jag) or Noelle (Addicted to bass) personally and we might discuss our views with you.
