....
a few cool things to share with everyone : )   first, the fen has planned an amazing weekend of events for next weekend and i am wicked bummed that i won't be able to go play because we'll be at the festival building our music store in the woods!  check the info below for all the details.

there's also information about the ohio lesbian festival -- 'tis a great festival if you've never been and worth the drive south (and fyi - we generally stay in one of the close by hotels that are very reasonably priced if you're not the camping type).

i've also added a couple of shows by local favorite barb barton to my list of shows and urge everyone to support another local group - nervous but excited are in a competition for a cameo appearance in the movie annabelle and bear - please vote for them every day at http://www.annabelleandbear.com/music.html  (the contest is over monday).

have a swell weekend.

The Fen' Most Excellent Weekend - July 31st - August 2nd

Hi there.  I am pleased to announce a weekend of festivities in conjunction with The Fen Sanctuary, our artist retreat center.  We
will be showing the documentary on Ferron, called Girl On a Road, July 31st, to begin at 8pm.  The price is 10 dollars.  The director, Gerry, and the camerawoman Peg will be present as will Ferron, for a Q & A afterwards.  There will of course be refreshments.  RSvP for directions.  Aug. 1st will be an all day offering.  There will be an open mic from12 noon until 3pm with 20 minute slots.  Please RSVP if you want to be on the list.  Any form of  considerate entertainment is a possibility.  At 4pm come join us in the clothes swap-a-thon.  Bring clothes you no longer want for the pile and choose different clothes that you might wear to the Ferron and Friends Concert, which will begin at 7:30pm. August 1st on the hill. The cost of the ferron concert is 20 dollars, but if you choose to come to the film and the concert the combined price will be $25.00   It might be wise to contact me and pay up front so that I can have a sense what's going on, especially in the sleeping department. Any person wanting to have a table to sell their wares is welcome to do so.  It will be a 25 dollar table fee and you must bring your own table.  On Sunday Aug. 2nd there will be an informal kayaking trip after breakfast.  You can either bring your own kayak or rent one down where we drop in to the river.  Some people are going to camp here through the weekend.  Again,we need an rsvp on this so we can be sure we have room.  The Fen will be available.  We have a few beds for 25 a night and if you want to bring foam or whatever you can sleep on the floor for 15 dollars per night. Camping is $10 per night. Because of the long weekend in Canada, we are making sleeping arrangement available from Thursday  the 30th on.  So here's the quick run down based on being here Thursday to Monday morning:   Campers: $65.00 for the weekend, sleeping on the floor: $85.00 for the weekend  and people in beds are $125 for the weekend. Some people are bringing their own grills.  I will have a grill and also we will have a fire going all day long for grilling.  We are not offering meals.  You must plan your own meals.  Whatever is available from the garden we may be able to gather and get together.   You will pass several stores before you get to us.  We have a corner store and also a big Meijers 4 miles down the road.A hot shower will be available, with a sign up list. but if you can bring your own camping shower bag, why not?  We have a little river out the back for a little swim. I might try to get a little bingo or black jack going, who knows.  Tell your friends.  All genders welcome.  So:    contact number-  206-853-6215  leave a message and phone number to reach you.   Email to ferronferron@gmail.com for directions and scheduling, and for any question you have, try to ask it before you come.  We look forward to hearing from you.   Ferron

2009 Ohio Lesbian Festival
2 Day Festival Now Includes Camping 20th Anniversary Promises Many Other Changes
Cris Williamson, God-des & She, Alix Olson and more!

The Ohio Lesbian Festival (OLF) marks its 20th Anniversary this year with many new and exciting changes.  The September 19 & 20, 2009 event will be the first time the festival will be held over 2 days and includes free camping for attendees.

The OLF, began in 1988 and has been held each year at Frontier Ranch just east of Columbus, features local, regional and
nationally known womynâ?Ts music performers and includes a merchant /indie craft market, workshops, an after hours dance and a relaxing and fun-filled weekend for womyn.  The addition of camping on Saturday promises to make the Festival more accessible to more womyn, many of whom travel from neighboring states to attend.

In honor of the 20th Anniversary, festival organizers have committed to making changes and improvements in the festival to enhance attendees' experience.  In response to feedback from past participants, a new expanded and improved food concession will include old favorites (Patâ?Ts Chili) and many new menu items.  Corn on the cob and a variety of vegetarian options are being added.  Because the event is 2 days long, there will be breakfast foods available on Sunday morning and the concession stand will stay open later in the evening to meet the needs of those late night snackers.

The Frontier Ranch property has also undergone renovations that make festival production easier and camping more appealing.  A newly remodeled shower house and improvements to the stage area and the concession stands will make for a pleasant experience for everyone.

Festival headliners include: Cris Williamson, Alix Olson and God-dess & She as well as numerous other performers.  A full list of performers, many other details and ticket information, including the ability to purchase tickets are all available on the website.
