Los Angeles Is a very lonely city. You can see it in the eyes of everyone ,from the very rich and famous to the very poor on the streeet.Yet there are strong communities of very determined people ,who despite the system and her indifference to plight ,carve a strong identity for themselves.
yesterday we were interview well myself and jaz on Steve Jones's radio show...very funny and inspiring .....he has been such a huge influence on us especially early on....Today i interviewed jaz for the idler.last night was very intense yet very relaxed....magical to play here ...LA Woman ...the history blows me away .Pygmy love Circus supported and were totaly awesome...Danny the drummer one of the top live drum performances i have ever witnessed sheer vicious preciosin...blinding! Again big Paul blows me away with his african stomp no one like him in the world!

ha! i've been looking forward to this show for ages (four years). requiem nearly knocked the camera out of my hands :)... the night will stay with me for a long time to come.

we tried to say 'hello' after the show, unfortunately the security were not so into me being tribal, sometimes it's an imposed loneliness.

take care, and cheers for all the music!

The only thing I miss about my home state is those small strong communities of people.Of all the dislike I have of L.A and Calif. I miss the enclaves of society there, where culture outside the mainstream can exist, without much having to deal with it at all.Just don't trigger any earthquakes with your sonic wall of sound, most my friends are still out there!

Hollywood is a miserable place. For the two years I was there, and involved in the record business, I was a complete mess. I didn't associate with my co-workers, nor was I really comfortable in the goth/industrial scene out there. I was most comfortable with the few 'normal' friends I had, honestly. It was a relief to leave it.

I think the most depressing thing was that even in the 'alternative' subcultures, it was still a popularity contest, rife with backstabbing and social climbing and starfucking...if you couldn't provide someone with what they wanted, you were discarded without thought or consequence.

i have to agree with you there, the backstabbing and social climbing finally got to me about 5 years ago and have been disconnected from outside world ever since. i still enjoy making music for myself, i feel like a weight has been lifted :] now just need to get a cabin in the l.a. forest and go biking with the mountain lions ;]

Some of my observations from last night's show...First off the set list was great. I was amazed to hear songs like "Money Is Not Our God" and the "Pandemonium" tracks mixed in with the early stuff. Paul Ferguson's drums sounded larger than life, he has such a unique style. Geordie continues to amaze on guitar. He makes it look easy. Jaz was...well...Jaz. And that's a good thing. Youth, the bass was nasty! There is a certain sound that only a Rickenbacker can make.

One thing I think KJ fans occasionally lose sight of (myself included) is that while the music is aggressive and raw, it also makes you want to MOVE. Its borderline dance music! I must say, I left the show last night feeling very satisfied.

Youth, you are right indeed.
Thank you for coming out to LA, I wish you played two gigs. You guys were at the top of shape. Youth, I could see you visibly enjoying yourself on stage. Big Paul was beyond any power. You guys were beyond anything natural, rational, conceivable, any expectations. I expected Jaz to "address" the audience, as there are so many issues right now that involve greed and fear.
Since the gig I could not sleep, I so miss you. I wish teletransport were available!
I would have loved to shake your hands, and talk to you. Yours is one of the most significant bands in my whole life. Yet, security is so tight, fans could talk to you in Europe. They are lucky.

May you have a great time in New York and Chicago. I look forward to your new release. I ordered the live cds from your London gigs, and I cannot wait for having them delivered.

BTW, I forgot. Me and my husband were at the HOb at 5 to collect our tickets on will-call. We could enjoy your sound check from the restaurant, and we were so blessed just like that. Not to mention all our excitement in months, as we got our tickets on pre-sale right when they were available...

Again, I am so grateful to Killing Joke for all the music! Come back soon!

the LA show was magical, thanks for playing and rocking the HOB to the ground. Good luck in NY and Chicago. My best Friend Don bought me your poetry book for my recent birthday and I was bummed we did not have the opportunity to thank you personally for the Poems and the show.
