we will meet again... (Anarchy in LA)...The End
Chicago was a fitting end .... again very relaxed and super intense at the same time .House of Blues is a fantastic venue. Amazing folk/outsider art everywhere and an incredible soundsystem! Started by Dan Ackroyd et al after the success of the Blues brother movie, bye way of putting something back into Chicago music scene. It worked ...cool.There was a very strange moment towards the end of the set when a " sonic boom" wave of bass engulfed the stage and i could litterally see the flloorboards bend, like there was wave of water rolling in under them...!Geord's noticed it too ,never experienced anything like that before!
I have been back a few days now and have almost got over the jet lag and de-compression of the tour. not easy i can tell you.
I did a gig on friday at the ICA with Dennis Morris (Basement5) and sex pistols /Marley photographer/genius ...with our band Stanley kubrick goes shopping ...It was a blast and lots of friends and various gatherers from the KJ tour showed up ...it was under rehearsed and very shambolic but totally blew me away rather than resisting the uncoordinated chaos with some Diva like on stage theatrics and indignant freakout ,we decided to embrace the Anarchy.. and let go! and it went down really well. Sounded great ! Although not through David ,our drummers stage moniter... who stormed off stage in a Barbara Streisand like epic huff ...made my night! good post tour primal scream therapy!
I wont be doing any more blogs for a while ...i think! Although i will be putting a couple of pre show DJ sets up from the KJ tour.. as well as some interviews with the band as podcasts fairly soon.
Really enjoyed the tour and the stimulating effect its had on me! Flashs of images wizz bye all the time ...like frenchy Frenzys cheese cornucopia in Paris and realizing the headbanging gurner hippy at the front by my moniter all night was in fact Dave Grohl ! Martin Atkins (PIL)backstage (see blogpix) Jaz avoiding paying me back that $50 for the whole USA tour! All our family backstage in London ...John Young's huge grin... from cult 80s industrialists Executive Slax....Steve Jones classic, understated london humour ..in a swish LA restaurant, while eating brown rice.... as Angelina Jolie gives him the once over with a twinkle in her eye as she leaves ....! and Guns and Roses, Tool and Morrisey rockin' to Big Paul's crazy beats in LA....Ray McVey (legendary guitarist and producer)and His understated, worldly wise wisdom, backstage during intense band mellodrama in London and LA,.Not to mention his powers of charm and persuasion with the fairer sex! And Vincente' Paul Ravens 18 yr old son who ran away with the circus and joined the tour for European leg...what a bright shinning light of pure gold and inspiration he was too! Especially us "older" musicians !
But most of all i remember this weird, slightly dissonant primitive chord... sustaining infinitly through time and space....Geordie's shrieking Terradactyle like feedback! ...The silence between the tribal pounding beat's and pummeling and damage Big Paul did to his drum kit every night(highlight of the shows for me)...All the messages of support and full satisfaction! from the fans, young and old, some of whom had travelled thousands of miles to be there...this is what really makes the music worthwhile.... when it all comes together and penetrates, re-connecting us to something deep within our DNA that we had completly forgotten existed and cattapaults us through the cosmos.... unifying not only a huge room full of strangers but distilling 30 odd years of history and musical journeying into one glorious, timeless, calvary charge moment!

Hi Youth!
Well I was near the stage, in Chicago, but I somehow missed that sonic boom! :(
Thanks for the memories though!
Until next time, I'm still smiling!

It's really been a joy to read the entries you have posted about these shows that you've been playing.I think it's really given me that child's sense of wonder.Like lying on my back and counting the stars and wishing really hard.It must have been one hell of an awe inspiring ride. Here's hoping that i'll get to catch Killing Joke in concert sometime in my near future.

Great Chicago Show!. You are certainly a serious player. The sound and the space in between was great. HOB did have excellent sound. Please do come back. You guys (KJ) are my favorite band.

it has been undeniably the most engaged I have been in years, it felt like the camaraderie of the acklam hall days, with Cookie & the gang...a real wave of pride in great mates doing their thing and it being acknowledged as well as it was - you, legend producer & player, made it possible to feel choked up at Raven not being there but feel like he was right next to me relishing watching you lay it down big time, gracious gratitude offered, I cannot begin to tell you how many of our peers have said how much of a kick it gave them to see you all back & sounding that majestic, sonic cialis for the masses, maestro ! (for fairer substitute darker and it was all spot on !)

Having been at both the shows in NYC and Chicago, I can attest to the "traveling thousands of miles" — and the fact that it was well worth it. Thank you again for allowing us this experience.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, the gift of story and music, the sharing of energy and space, and the rocket-charged shot of motivation that got me playing my bass again! I wish we had had more time to commune, but know that you had a profound impact that will not be forgotten.

Hope our paths cross again someday.
To the sky, the tree, the flame and the wave...

Leigh
