So, last week we put up our top 5 lists and that was fun(ish). This week we want to acknowledge some of the awesome folks who put our stuff on their top 5's and whatnot. First of all if you missed it last month, AP gave the new SCREAM HELLO full length 4 stars and praised it a bunch. Not enough, but it was nice. Well this month the folks at AP put the POLAR BEAR CLUB full length as one of the 10 essential records on 2008. Pretty crazy. I guess they forgot the SCREAM HELLO record, but thats ok. Also the nice folks at PUNKNEWS.org put both the SCREAM HELLO and POLAR BEAR CLUB cds on their top 20 of the year. This is a really big honor for us as we have nothing but respect for those folks at punknews. A lot of other really cool sites and magazines like EXCLAIM also dropped us some nice words in their year end lists. So a big thanks goes out to Chuck at Beartrap PR for kicking ass even with baby strapped firmly to back. Also we would like to thank, Aubin, Brian, Chris, and everyone at Punknews, and Scott and everyone at AP for the kind words. Next year is looking way better.
In the theme of next year is looking way better-NAKATOMI PLAZA are recording their farewell opus right now. Yes we are very sad that they will be calling it a day. We love Lou, Al, and Oscar very much, and they will continue to be important parts of the family. With that said though, in the spirit of turning a funeral into a party we will be releasing their full length early/mid 2009. I have heard most of the demos and can safely say that this is not only some of the best music any of them has ever done, it stands to reason that it may be the best thing we ever put out. They are putting their time, money, blood, sweat, and short bread into making sure this record bleeds the passion that they have given to our scene and community for years. It will show and be amazing. We will have more details on it soon. All I will say now is expect that record to be the best of 2009, and a big thanks to Ali for his expert producing skills, excellent love of late night hamburgers, and excellent hair.
