been a busy year so far! thought we were gonna take a break after we played the Menomena show to record, but that didn't happen. instead, we cruised. nah nah, we just got booked for a handful of shows.
we did open for of montreal. the show was ridiculously packed. there are photos, i'm sure.. of the line going down hotel st halfway to river st from the loft. lotsa great compliments from people but i'm sure the people who hated us aren't gonna come up like, "hey you guys were terrible! can i get you a drink?" anyway, of montreal killed it. they're pretty mellow guys. sound guy for them is mad intense. he brings the sense of urgency and shit. all in all ara did a great job putting this together. thanks to the enterprise, the loft, of montreal and.. soo many other people who were involved in putting this night together. it wasn't easy.
i heard a lot of people were complaining about not being able to get in at the of montreal show which is really bizarre considering they coulda just caught the jump offs a week later doing the exact same thing, but for pacifica. i remember when pacifica was just starting off. think the lead singer guy dated one of my BFFs. anyway, we cancelled on this show. then we uncancelled. we drove back and forth all evening getting equipment. there were THREE drum kits there that night. we played super short and spent the rest of the night getting drunk. see that tiny little 12 watt Kustom amp combo? i played the show with that. but pacifica brought like 50 guitar pedals, three gigantic half stacks, and cameos from like.. super sonic space monkeys and push the pedal.
zen from in4 showed up with ryan ryanson ota and there's some secret event coming up soon that will prolly somehow involve in4, contrast, the jump offs, etc.. real exciting stuff.
our shows in april are cancelled. we're doing kaleidescope again on march 10th to ease your tuesday night fix. gonna record an album. maybe open a .com. stay tuned.
