Current mood: relieved Category: Friends
Every year we spend part of the Christmas holiday with my parents, sisters and their kids and their families. Twenty people gathered this year at Grand Lake, Oklahoma. Like the Okies in the Grapes of Wrath, we brought our mattress (no, we didn't tie it up on the hood of our car--we put it in the bed of our truck) and when we got to the farm, put it upstairs on the sewing room floor!
My mother in law came from California and we gave her a room of her own. My husband had to work on Christmas day but was off the following 5 days, so we arrived the day after Christmas. My poor MIL got sick that night with the stomach virus. Then my son, then my sister and her husband and her daughter. My MIL ended up getting dehydrated, but a friend of ours who is a doctor came to the house and gave her 2 pints of IVs which was a blessing! We left the Grand Lake area on Monday, and everyone seemed okay, but this morning my daughter woke up vomiting. Hopefully hers will only last a day.
We managed to have fun and fellowship through all the sickness. We love playing games like Scene It, dominoes, bridge and Trivial Pursuit. It was good to see everyone.
Now I'm ready to start the New Year! Get back to writing. Sapphire Blue Publishing who I write for wants me to make a series out of The Glock and The Bible. And so another story has been percolating in my mind during my hiatus ....
