4am an here I sit on the computer. You may ask "what the hell are you doing up?" Well, the answer is just getting home from another show. I played tonight at East Fork in Yantis, Tx. Damn, I love that place.
Here's a recap of the road:
Left around 5pm. Made sure I had everything this time. Don't want a repeat of last time! HAHA Stopped for some sodas and smokes, and settled in for the ride. "Dirt Force 1", the old Ford, was gassed up and ready for one more ride. Can't complain. Damn truck has been places I'll never be again, and seen things some folks should never see! LOL We won't go there!
Rolled into Yantis(can ya really "roll into Yantis" or is it just a general area on the map? Just wondering) around 6:45. pretty nice crowd at East Fork already. hope they stick around for the show. Check on in at the bar, and find Danny enjoying a nice big chicken fried steak. Sure looks good. Momma Pearl is at her post at the bar, and promptly gives me a big ol' hug. Gotta love me some Momma Pearl!
After setting up and soundcheckin the setup, we sit and chill for a bit with the folks. Our friends from radiofreetexas.org, the Exit 110 band, are playing a couple miles down the road at The Reel, so we roll down there to jack with them for a bit. Nice guys all around. We talk gigs, gear, and road stories for a while. It's getting close to time for them to start, so we sit and watch them play a couple songs. Damn good band. You get the chance, you need to check 'em out. They are some Grade A badasses, for sure.
Met Andy, the head cheese at The Reel, and talk to him abit bout "bidness", then head back to start the show at East Fork. Crowd is still holding strong. Awesome! Kick it off and let the party begin! WOOHOO!
Momma Pearl is dancing, as are alot of the people there. Everyone seems to be having the time of their life, the way I like it. cartman is at his post by the tip jar. Gina has the camera rollin, and the beer is cold. All is right with the world.
Later in the night, I get blessed by something I never thought I would see. Momma Pearl gives me the "full monty" and we got it on tape! HAHA Too bad youtube would block it! On another note, met a new friend/fan tonite named Trey. Let me tell ya, that boy deserves to have his ass up there and playing. He played us a couple covers and a couple originals. That boy is better than he knows.
Before ya know it, it's 12 and time to wrap it up. Another nite in the books and another awesome show. I love this job. other than Momma Pearl giving me the "grand tour" of her funbags, it's a pretty uneventful night. At least for me anyway, and that's saying something. Only one set of boobs aired out, and only two pitchers worth of beer and three shots drank, it stayed pretty tame tonight.Looking forward to the next show there on Aug 6th.
On another note, I got the bright idea to start a video blog of life on the road. Be looking for it soon on youtube. Soon as Gina gets over her broken ankle, we'll start it. Should be highly entertaining to say the least!
