On Wednesday, Byron saw a neurologist in Florence, AL. This Doctor has orded an MRI and a flex x-ray of the neck. Byron has been having trouble swallowing and the doctor wants to make sure that there is no muscle or ligament damage. We then drove to Birmingham and saw the Trauma doctors. They informed me that his most serious injury was a brain injury. For those of you that have talked with Byron, he is slow to respond and loses his thoughts. They said that it could be 4 to 6 weeks before he would improve enough to be able to drive. He is not to do anything that requires a quick reaction time. They told him to do puzzles, play games, anything that requires him to think and then respond. Byron was upset with the news, he wants to be better yesterday. There is improvement everyday and it will just take time.
