PRESIDENT  BARACK  OBAMA:  The  Dream  Fulfilled

Happiness Is .....
Appreciating The
Awesomeness Of This
Historic Moment

PRESIDENT  BARACK  OBAMA

'When The Nation Is Threatened, The Statesman Appears.' -- Tao Te Ching

What better symbolism than to have Barack Obama's Inauguration one day after we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday?  Black and White people have come together as  ONE  to see King's dream fulfilled at this memorable moment in time.

As a large crowd gathered in Washington, DC to be part of history, didn't you also feel the positive vibes and happy feelings all around you?  It's quite amazing if you think about it, considering the terrible times we are in, and the hardship many people are feeling right now!  This man, Barack Obama, who people in Africa consider the first  'African President,'  has inspired so much optimism and hope for a better day, not only in America, but around the world.  How does he do it?  And how does he remain so cool, calm and collected, simply the  'Calmest Guy in the Room,'  despite all the major challenges we are faced with?

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA WILL MEAN SO MANY DIFFERENT THINGS TO SO MANY DIFFERENT PEOPLE!

On Inauguration Day, the six-year-old black kid saw a black president with his family moving into the White House, and things will never be the same.  The thought that you can be anything you want to be, will manifest itself in that little guy's head, and he will grow up to see the world around him in a totally different light.

His 80-year-old grandma who like many others remembers the struggle, and never thought she would see the day a black president would be elected, can happily say from now on  'Yes, in my lifetime!  I have seen America, Black and White, coming together and not only fulfilling MLK's dream but electing the best person stepping forward, not only for America, but the world.  An inspirational leader with a first class temperament and intellect!'  I cannot even begin to understand the pride and joy black people of her generation must feel.

The fifteen-year-old Muslim teenager in Pakistan realizes that America can't be so bad after all, if they overwhelmingly elected a black person with the name Barack Hussein Obama, who looks like much of the rest of the world.  America's face to the world has changed in an instant on election day, and all of a sudden, it has become much more difficult for the likes of Al-Qaeda to paint America as this big demon that needs to be defeated.  And if that's a first step toward changing hearts and minds in the Middle East, then we're off to a successful start.

And people around the globe, especially in Europe and Africa, are looking at this with complete awe and amazement.  I cannot tell you the stories I read in overseas papers and heard from friends, of scenes of joy and happiness, people celebrating in the streets, much like here, on election day.  And now it's an even more profound feeling of joy since Obama has been inaugurated.

All Americans, who at times felt hostility when traveling to other countries, and even being questioned about what has been going on in America over the past eight years, will again be able to proudly say, as a friend of mine recently did while on business in Europe  'Yes, I am an American.  And proud of it!'  You may be surprised by the response.  As in my friend's case, the little old lady behind the counter in a bakery in a small French town, came around, gave him a kiss on his forehead and said  'We're so proud of you and Obama!'

And who wants to argue with that?

It's a beautiful day!

IT'S  BEEN  A  LONG  TIME  COMING.  CHANGE  HAS  COME  TO  AMERICA !

Great Blog Andrea. I'm so happy to be a part of this. The '08 election was the first time I ever felt the urgency to vote, and I voted for Obama!! I welcome President Barack Obama with an open heart, and I pray our World as a whole, will embrace this wonderful change, and that we may all find peace. God Bless the World, and the great U.S.
of A!

What a fantastic blog, Andrea.

Amazing but true...nine "world leaders," personally congratulated Barack Obama when he won the election, including Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran.

You know we're finally heading into the right direction, especially after the past eight years of chaos.

Cheers!

Oh Heavenly Father keep President Obama in your hands for strength and courage through these hard times. May Jesus keep him strong and wise and to keep him and his family protected from harm . Touch his wife to be a stong help-mate to him while she is been a mother at the same time for their daughters. In the Name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

"We're so proud of you Obama!" Here in VA I worked as a manager on his campaign and we unified people, also from working in the trenches the work has just begun. A symbol of hope, yes! But until war is not a reslution for Peace the battle has just begun! Until minorities are given equal protections under the law and the courts recognize We the people... without justice there is no Peace. Until poverty, homelessness and violence is not an American way, I stand in hope. I am waiting on numbers to claim total victory, but I love your energy and sentiments. Love, Sonya.

"We are so proud of you Obama!" In Va. I worked as a manager on the campaign as we unified people. From my experience working in the trenches Ii know we have just begun. Until there is equality in or courts and poverty, homelessness eradicated in America, I stand in hope. Wiithout justice we have not achieved peace. Until we claim the victory that war is not a resolution for peace in this world, we have not acheived peace. To the child that lives under the denial of protection from domestic violence and bombs are not droped over their heads; we have not achieved peace. A symbol has definately been made. The Constitution is a symbol too. I am waiting on numbers to claim total victory and to be truthful the battle has just begun. He needs our continued supprt. We still have a Congress and a White House to win. Love the sentiments :) I continue to stand in hope to see these changes. LOVE, Sonya.
Good blog!

Andrea!This is wonderful!You touched on something's I had'nt thought about.
Obviously, you are a Beautiful person from the inside out!I was blessed to witness,Rev. Dr,Martin Luther King Jr.,deliever his,I Have A Dream speech,at the Poor people's March on Washington D.C.
in the 60's among the millions, at the side of my late father. My father passed in 2006 but,one day I asked him,dad do you ever think we will have a black president,he replied ,I don't think I will but,you or your children might live to see that day!I wrote,Dawning Of A New Day,while he was still alive and it was completed while he was gravely ill in the hospital. When,I wrote the lyrics I didn't know they would become so relevant to Black people and all people who believe in peace and equality.today:)I'm grateful to have President Obama, who represent's postive change in the U.S.
ofA and IM so glad I happened across you,Andrea:)Much Love~Floyd~

seems strange after years of negative influence to see a man that it's just doing good thing for his country.

it was a very bad period.

so everybody now is paying for what happened before.

I hope hat even here in Europe , especially Italia, people start to understand.

we got to change here too.

Lo.

This is so beautifully and eloquently written my friend. You were able to sum up so much using just the right words. Let us hope that the outcome of that "Beautiful Day" will yield many more of the like in the years to come.

A brilliant piece! Wanted to give all the kudos but the computer had me here.. it's all good. What matter is Mr Presiddent Obama is a geniune leader, as proven by the outcome of the election. Of course thats not to undermine the ability of his opponent.

The world is a better, much better & wonderful place when we all colaborate for a just cause. Owing to the fact that it's the right thing to do. The world over as you've gathered, is in absolute awe, for within our lifetime, we ALL have witness a milestone in history.

Yes his power separates the mind from the world of quantity and measurement... his voice when the tongue of life is muted...the president that stands as a blue beacon to point out the path, guiding with no visible light. This is our president Barack Obama, may peace walk before him.
