Nice! And it had me on it as well!
But they said that you said you were carving out a distinctive steampunk sound.
I thought you said you didn't have a genre?

Though grossly mis-quoted regarding the opinion of "my genre" I am appreciative to the people of MTV News who are helping me brainwashing the masses.

I am elevated by the apparent progress of the pop-cultural power grab of Dr Steel. But of course, total dictatorial success will only come through implementation of cross-genre nano and macro-technologies. I propose an escalation of the secret Dr Steel Chemtrail bombardment of the skies and an increase in the amplitude of the secret Dr Steel HAARP cloudbuster/mind control device.

ONWARD TO TOTAL VICTORY!

Too bad it looks like something that MTV's usual viewers would probably make fun of (though a few of them in the process of making fun of that feature might actually decide that the stuff they see looks pretty cool...)

I was like Dr. Steel on MTV? another mission to push? then I saw it was already there and I was very excited! I heard BogeyMan Boogie then the pressure was built and finally seeing your face on there was an explosion of SQUEEE! Something mass media tangible.
The reign of Steel SHALL BEGIN!!!

OK, the only steampunk novel i've read is the His Dark Materials trilogy. What do you all suggest i read? I'd sorta rather not get involved in a whole series of books at the moment. I'd like to read just a stand alone novel.

China Mieville's Bas Lag series (Perdido Street Station, The Scar, and Iron Council).

Yeah, I know it's a series, but each book rpetty much stands on its own, and all of them are very awesome novels indeed.

The "original" Steampunk novel is generally considered to be The Difference Engine by William Gibson and Bruce Sterling, but I have to admit it really isn't all that good.
:(
Not sure if City of Saints and Madmen or Shriek: An Afterword by Jeff Vandermeer count as steampunk, but both of those books have a very Steampunk feel in spite of occasionally referencing post-Edwardian twentieth-century inventions here and there.

Well, I thought the story was honestly kind of watered-down-for-the-mainstream-consumer garbage overall, but they did give you some excellent, if rather out of context coverage. A big step forwards either way, getting yourself displayed on MTV.
