Greetings Friends. Tim here from The Deepest Red. I hope you had a very Happy Thanksgiving!

A lot of you Redders out there who are Unlocking the Machine have been sending us messages asking a lot of really great questions! Keep 'em coming! To answer your questions, while making the answers available to anyone else who might have the same questions, we've taken a ton of the top fan questions that you've asked, and are posting a bulletin a week until we get through them all (and there are a lot). Keep the questions coming, and we'll continue to answer them!

Now for your first question (this was a popular one-- perhaps the most popular):

1. What does it mean when you guys say 'Unlock The Machine'?
Unlocking The Machine is all about potential. The definition of a machine is an apparatus consisting of interrelated parts with separate functions, used in the performance of some kind of work. If I look at the definition of machine, and replace the word with person, what do I get? The definition of a person is an apparatus consisting of interrelated parts with separate functions, used in the performance of some kind of work. That's what life is all about-- unlocking the machine and figuring out what ones true function is.

2. What do you think is fun about The Deepest Red? Why do you do what you do?
We love the creation process. There's a tangible feeling of accomplishment that comes from being able to create something artistically that pushes the preconceived notions of what a genre is supposed to look or sound like. We love the feeling that comes right after we finally tighten up a new song for the first time and begin to enjoy playing and hearing the different parts. The only thing more fulfilling and rewarding than that is having a fan come up to you after a show, or leave a comment on our MySpace saying how much they enjoyed your playing or your song, and what it means to them. On an unrelated note, there's nothing like having a fat guitar riff kick you in the neck the instant that you think you're safe. Now that's fun. Too often people who can, don't. If you're reading this and you're a writer, WRITE. If you're an actor, ACT. If your a craftsman, CRAFT. For us, we have the ability to play music that we enjoy, so we DO.
