THE CARE BEAR PROJECT
The Care Bear Project, or C.B.P., is a program where young men and women in our community are awarded a Care Bear or a Care Bear Cousin based on their own particular personality.
First Requirement:
The Recipient must convey the overall spirt of the Care Bears in their every day actions. They must truly love and care about their fellow man.
Second Requirement:
The Recipient must be a legal resident of Pueblo, Colorado. We regret that applicants from Colorado Springs, Denver, and Battle Mountain were ineligible for this project. However, they will be kept in-mind for future plush novelty awards.
Third Requirement:
It helps to be at The Downtown Bar on nights when I'm drunkedly passing out Care Bears.
1. Playful Heart Monkey

This one was easy. Albert shows us all the difference between childish and childlike. Albert truly has a playful heart. Let's go fly kites Albert, let's go fly kites.

The Haunted Windchimes!
The Haunted Windchimes is fast becoming one of my favorite music groups. I feel so positive after one of their songs is played on the radio (91.5 KRCC). I feel friendship in their music. So that is why I have awarded Friend Bear to this fab trio.
3. Bright Heart Raccoon

Erica!
Bright Heart Raccoon is known for her intelligence. Erica is always coming up with a clever idea for a short story or just a smart way to solve a problem. I think one of the reasons she is such an intellectual is because she is such a wonderful listener.
4. Bedtime Bear

The Downtown Bar!
Bedtime Bear was perfect for The Downtown Bar not because of what he is but for the moon on his tummy. The moon for me is like the Bat-Signal for Batman, but instead of warning me of crime it tells me that across town an ice-cold Pilsner needs me. Mark and Susan run a relaxing and classy place, no tacky neon signs or blaring T.V., just good music and intelligent conversation.
5. Cozy Heart Penguin

Kriyah!
I originally thought Kriyah would be one of the Care "Bears" because he's a big teddy bear, but I could not pick one. Kriyah just had a beautiful baby girl with his wife Kate. They just bought a nice home with a fireplace. I cannot imagine a more "Cozy"place for little Samantha to grow up. So that is why I chose Cozy Heart.
6. Funshine Bear

If the power ever gos out and you can't see, just invite Javaria over and her personality and smile will light up any room. But be forewarned that you might piss yourself from laughing so hard.
7. America Cares Bear

Yago!
What? America Cares Bear? Yes, it's true. Just after Sept. 11 when everything in this country suddenly had a flag on it, a very patriotic bear was added to the team. This was perfect for Yago because he actually cares enough about America to say when something is bullshit. Good for you Yago, kudos.
8. Tenderheart Bear

Margaret, otherwise known as Goon!
Tenderheart Bear is the leader of the Care Bears. Goon is a natural-born leader, whether it's organizing a recycling pickup or protesting the war in Iraq. She's the voice of reason with a heart of gold.
9. Share Bear

Keith And Brian!
Keith and Brian are both shirt-off-their-back kinda' guys. They will share their food, they will share their drink, and they will share a sarcastic comment or two as well. It's nice to see when truly giving people find each other.

10. Cheer Bear

Once again this one is easy, I don't know anyone as cheerful as Kerstein. She always has something positive to say and always says it with a smile. It seems like she's even been smiling more lately. I think it's because of someone named Nicole.

Trisha can take care of business, from something as small as a campfire to Sangre de Cristo Art Center. Don't worry about her, she's got it.
12. Love-A-Lot Bear

Daneya!
One thing that you could never say about Daneya is that she does not love enough. This girl has got love coming out the wazoo. She's not only got love for all of her friends but she even gots love for strangers. Good for her!
13. Wish Bear

Kristen!
Kristen received Wish Bear because I "Wish" her and her boy friend John would come over and hang out some time. Let's have another Alanis Morissette night.
14. Good Luck Bear

Luke and Danielle's Apartment!
I was sitting in the comfortable corner chair reading Atomic Yggdrasil and having a conversation with Danielle about Mich Heburg. Luke was strumming away at the guitar when it hits me, "where is your T.V.?" I ask. Luke replied "we don't have one", Danielle chimed in "we don't need one." I am "lucky" to get to hang out someplace this cool.
15. Lotsa' Heart Elephant

Truthfully Marty was the last to get a Care Bear, but I wanted to include him because he is such a good friend. But it's ok because Marty does have Lotsa' Heart. He also has Lotsa' Talent. I plan on hearing Lotsa' music from him in the near future.
16. Loyal Heart Dog

I wish their was a Care Bear for beauty, or maybe a Care Bear for amazing writing skills, or one for raw sex appeal. But Loyal Heart Dog works because I have never met a more Loyal person. If Fele is your friend today she will be your friend for the rest of your life. How fortunate for you.
17. Grumpy Bear

Seasonal depression is real but is not a reflection of a person's character. It's been a long winter but now spring has sprung. This was a cold and ugly winter, but I got through it because of all of you. I love each and every one of you.
