I just wanted to take a second to let my family of fans know about my good friend and musical partner Abigail Washburn's eloquent new project AFTERQUAKE. Years ago Abigail found a deep passion for the culture and people of China. She lived there for years and in that distant place realized her connection to America and it's music. So, when the devastating earthquakes hit the Szechuan region last year Abigail was profoundly affected, as if they had hit her hometown. She returned to the region late last year to visit and help with relief efforts and was inspired to shine a light on the displaced families with music. She collaborated with The Shanghai Restoration Project to create sampled and electronic landscapes for the voices of children singing traditional folk songs. Please take a little time to check out the music and images at the site www.afterquakemusic.com or check Abigail's brilliant interview with Melissa Block on All Things Considered. Links are ready for copy and paste below (sorry I don't know how to make a hyperlink on here). Thanks everyone and take care.
