i was on the UW campus a few days ago, looked up and saw 4 bald eagles soaring around, each one higher than the other. it was amazing, yet not totally unusual in this city. i stopped and stared at them, but no one else around me seemed to notice these gigantic birds in the sky. at times like these, i look for anyone to point 'em out to but usually people just think i'm crazy gesticulating at the sky with my mouth wide open. many years ago when i lived here there was a group of about 5 bald eagles hunting over lake washington, by seward park, each one taking turns diving then circling around. and one time waiting on the on-ramp to 520, one flew right over the car. then today i walked out to get the mail and sho nuff, there was a bald eagle soaring high overhead, circling and circling. i ran inside and grabbed the binoculars and watched for about 10 minutes. in that span of time it never flapped its wings once, just soared around and around with wings open wide looking all noble and shit.
