Up north in convoy
You had a deck of cards
We had time on our hands
And the sun wasnt all that bright
It was a good day to sit in the sand
To unleash your cheery grin
And the subtle glow of your happy eyes
The time that anticipated our sins
Was the time of our lives.
I used a petty lie
I was then the adamant trusty boy
And those were still happy times
When we all travelled up north in convoy
You made me feel like
I was the utmost epitome of cool
Either playing cards in the sun
Or wet, long-haired by the swimming pool.
So, sprinkling water
Put a halt to the way of the new moon
The worlds axis is in this place
And my life is rotating too soon
I hear flaws on records
In music that used to be heaven-made
Today I want to be the trustworthy tool
Im sick of being jack of all trades.
Its happy light outside
We know it wont shine within
And facing each tender threat
Youre ready to indulge my every whim
Why do you do it?
Is it an answer to something I asked?
Should soft words suffice to bring back that cheery girl
Id give back the time that has passed.
I favour beauty
In radiant and meaningful way
And youre somewhat oblivious
To simple facts like that at your display
It does me no favour
Nor does it work for yourself
Its almost another year
Late evening, April, the 12th.
