So I decided to end the family visitation a day early this past weekend and take on the day off on Memorial Day on my own. Near Route 22, I explored a short trail and followed the orange blazes. I made a trek and turned around. When I got back to where I parked my car, I found that some folks had assembled a flea market on the pull-off on the side of the road. "Sure, why not?"

I usually don't find a whole lot at flea markets but looking is permitted. It's old instruments and used books that I'm on the look-out for. "hub caps, old dishes, roller blades....Magnus chord organ?" A nearly toothless man, owner of the toyish keyboard, started up his generator and plugged in the thing to let me play with it. Neat. $15.00 later and it was mine. Now what do I do with it?

Aw, man, my mom had that same style organ when I was in grade school (hmm, I can't remember that I ever really tried playing around with it, though.) I found a song book for it when we sold her house about ten years ago; if I still have it, it's yours - it would be the perfect period accessory! Only song I specifically remember from it was "and the band played on." I'll look this weekend.

Play it, lady! Play it! Write the song: "Hiking Trail to a Flea Market" and dedicate it to the love of old things!

Hannah,
It doesn't get better than that...It's a vehicle for another great Bingman song.  Just start holding down chord buttons and let some melody come to life and the words flow...you already know how to do it...
Maybe call the song "orange blazes" or "Sure, Why Not" from your diary entry....  hope to catch you somewhere soon.  I was again coming down to Skeeters and something got in the way...
