having been to 2 shows in the uk and getting to meet you ,eddie, both times and ron and dan once i have no doubt that mase was upset you didn't offer to sign (and kiss) his booty as he is obviously such a big wheel in a small town....the only reason he probably is the only ione to play your tunes is he is only one there in Mase-ville

and he is probably pissed at his best buddies getting pushed off stage when they are the next greatest rock band in the world (it was probably their only gig that month)

what a tosser!!!

people like that suck.........you do 200+ shows a year and some of them are probably only to a dozen or so real fans - i know i have turned out to see bands and can count the members of the audience on one hand......but you turn up and give it all and then have some asshole talk about you like that

heres to the next 20 years of supersuckers

ps eddie, come play an acoustic show near bristol, england (i know a pub with an open mic acoustic night if your interested - sorry no pay but i'll buy you some beers )

Hand Grenade DEBUT ALBUM on ITUNES NOW

a list of facts that maybe some fellow supersucker fans should know in response to the myrtle beach and charleston shows.
1) MASE, who is a very good friend of hand grenade, ,should not recieve the colorfully abusive comments a lot of you are writing., AFTERALL MASE was not the fuckin d-bag (said abusive comment)  during those two days.  2) AFTERALL, its MASE who talked the supersuckers up rigerously on the air, trying to gain as much support for the surfrider foundation's show in myrtle beach as possibly. AFTERALL its not MASE'S fault that the surfrider foundation LOST MONEY, just to have the supersuckers play!!!!! maybe the next time the supersuckers sign on for a BENEFIT SHOW, where the idea is to create awareness and MONEY, they should not deprive the foundaton of it.

3) "precious little feelings hurt because he got asked if he was going to help"...that was eddies comment on us (hand grenade); we were asked to help, so we did gladly...okay, well we were a little flustered by the fact that we carried EVERYTHING IN, while the roadie (whos job it is) told us what to carry. Well we had no problem doing so, but u can understand maybe a thank you, would have been nice (shit we were hoping for a hey how u doin?!).... we didnt get it. We consider them rock royalty, so it wasnt so bad to be treated like little bitches as if it were ur boss making u clean his car or mow his law. So our precious little feelings were fine eddie...

4) We are aware how hard it is to travel all through out the world in a van...its tyring, redundant and sometimes emotionally dragging. We in hand grenade are travelling to the north east this weekend and we are excitied! However we are doing it in a 2000 jeep grand cherokee with a trailer, we WISH!!!! it was a ford econo-van. One day we hope to travel like u do... but we have day jobs just to support this passion we have. when we travel 3 hours in 2 cars to play for 17 minutes u can immagine how pissed u would be. The supersuckers, of all people, should understand how degrading that is.

5)To all of u supersucker fans, its not MASE'S fault. if u want to take it out on someone take it out on us, but when THE SUPERSUCKERS (maybe unknowingly) cause a charity to lose money, just for their presence and completely ass fuck's a bands set (knowingly.... they could have gone on 13 mins later, wasnt our fault the sound guy was 2 hrs late and they were set up already), well how could we be wrong?

6) Were not dude rock cock suckers and we know what music is (the super suckers arnt music...they are MOTHER FUCKIN ROCKIN' ROLL!!!) but it hurt to get dick fisted by someone u respect!!    and MASE is the mother fuckin man and aynone who has anything else to say... feel free www.myspace.com/handgrenaderocks

Just a general comment (and not necessarily related to the Supersuckers)

DPX produces several for-profit, and charity events every year. Blaming a band for the event losing money is pretty weak. Thats yet another problem with this fucked up industry. Everybody wants to be a rock-n-roller, and no one wants to do the sweat work.

Unless all of the sudden the band changed their asking price, (and NEVER expect a touring band to do a benefit show for free, because thats really rare) then the producer/promoter knows what they need to generate $$$ wise to make a profit for the charity. If not enough tickets sold with a week to go before the show, then they knew ahead of time that the show was a loser...thats when a PROFESSIONAL gets on the phone, makes calls, posts more flyers, hounds local press/media, and PROMOTES the show. (i.e. promoter)

but quit whining...its just that its the way it goes. eddie was a total asshole to me in kansas city when i met him, maybe he is a little too full of himself these days.....yet i still continue to be a fan, becuase they are the greatest rock n roll band in the world (well maybe next to zeke).........

Hand Grenade DEBUT ALBUM on ITUNES NOW

Hey Im in Hand Grenade too. Everything Eddie said is bullshit. He sat on his computer in the green room and didn't even make an effort to say hi or meet the bands that came to support him and the Supersuckers. Boo hoo, you get to ride around the country and play rock n roll all year round. It must be hard to sit in a van, and then play a show. The whole band left the venue while the openers played (lame). Im sorry but just because you like a bands music, doesn't mean they aren't completely rude. And when we were booted off stage, one of the supersuckers immediately jumped on stage and told us to get our shit off as quick as possible. You saying you had "very little to do with it" is a load of crap to me. And even if you did have only a little bit to do with it, wouldn't you want to say "Hey dudes, sorry. We're on a tight schedule" instead of blowing us off and hurrying us off the stage? Mase is completely justified with his statements as far as that show goes. And he's also 100% nicer than any of you. We are justified to be rattled about this, because honestly we were excited to play with and meet the guys. I don't give a fuck who you are or were at one point. We busted our ass for you (booking the show, taking off work and leaving my kid, carrying in your shit) and you totally blew us off without a hello or thank you. I know you are legends and have been doing the rock n roll thing for years, but when it comes down to it, you used us. Mase publicly ranted about you, sure. But you guys made fools of us, IN PUBLIC. Instead of crying about this on your message board (hypocrite) maybe you should've extended your hand to a bunch of guys who were contributing to your super hard 200 day a year rock n roll lifestyle. Maybe none of this would be an issue if you guys stopped worrying about blogging during a show and actually were a part of it. I wouldn't walk out on the other bands if i was you, but then again I appreciate the generosity of strangers.

Holy crap!

Dear Hand Grenade.
If you make this much of a stink about one show and one set being cut short you should pack it in NOW! That's why opening bands are just that--opening bands. If you get cut off, deal with it. It's gonna happen again. (and again, and again...) Do your job the best you can and let the headliners do theirs.

As for the 'Suckers pre-show, backstage behavior-get a grip! 200 shows a year with a couple of openers each night equals somewhere around six to eight hundred opening bands a year. How many opening bands do YOU see that are any good? Don't blame Eddie for relaxing before a show and getting some personal shit done. A Ford Econoline is not the most luxurious tour vehicle and a couple of hours of (relative) peace in the green room is totally his priviledge.

That's my two cents worth,

Cheers form Canada

Coop

It's not about the bands or the music. Just a matter of respecting people that help you out. Just because you headline a show doesn't mean you get to walk all over people, regardless of how good their band is, or what slot they have on a show. Maybe it wasn't intentional but it was totally disappointing. Best part about being in a band is seeing new shows, meeting new people, and having a good time in the progress. It's easy to be a fan of a band and get their back because you like their music and you think they can do no wrong. So go ahead and defend your band, i respect that. At the same time, you weren't there. Ask the other bands that actually were, or maybe some of the fans that were. No one appreciated it and it put a damper on everyones night. Everyone played great but the overwhelming rudeness was just uncalled for. It wasn't the opening bands that let a bad taste in peoples mouth, it was the supersuckers. Sorry.

I bet they thank the Supersuckers in the liner notes of their next record and put on their myspace that they've played with the Supersuckers. It's just fuckin' rock and roll. Both encounters I've had with these guys were nothing but pleasant. And add doing this for a career with having families, etc. Shit is exhausting.  Maybe tampons are a normalcy down there, but up north we like our rock and roll with a little less heart and little more ballsack. Hence, the admiration of the great Supersuckers.  Let's get on to more pressing issues...like when you guys get inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. You've got enough years in, I reckon. Do we start campaigning now?

This is hilarious! Hand Grenade has pretty much commited suicide in regards to street cred anywhere but their own backyard. We have played, as openers, with the Supersuckers twice in the past 3-4 years. Once for the Little Steven's Underground Garage Tour, and once again for a Supersuckers show. Both times the guys were just as cool as anyone I've met in over 20 years of gigging around the US and Europe. Hell, they even gave us their beer at 1st Ave in Minneapolis :)
Every band worth their salt is going to have a night here and there when they just can't be your pal and pretend they give a shit about your part-time, day-job working ass. That's just life...that's just reality for a touring, hard-working outfit like the Supersuckers. If you take that kind of shit personally, you're already destined to stay a part-time small fry. The fellas in Hand Grenade need to grow some skin and realize that for most 'opening acts' the night, and the experience isn't gonna be about them...it's gonna be about the cats that eat, live, breathe, sleep, and do the job every fucking day. Sorry, I can't stop laughing...Long live The Supersuckers!

ive been going to supersucker shows back when they where called the black supersuckers. we started booking them for shows shortly after they changed there name. they have always been professinal. i've been to over a 100 shows. they give 100% back to there fans at every show. i've seen them 10 times in one summer and every time was amazing. eddie was rude to me once and i still support them. i used to run a club and was a house soundman. the opening bands will always get the short end of the stick, your the fluff for the haedliner. people are rreally there to see them them. maybe you should put your dues in like the supersuckers have. they play 200 shows a year for the last 15+ years. do you know how many opening bands that have played before them? shit you guys where most likly in grade school when they started touring. so stop your crying and pay your dues like all the other band out there. then you guys might be around and playing shows for almost 20 years.

I've had the misfortune of metting Mase on a few occasions.  I personally don't care for him...I personally don't care for Myrtle Beach as a whole since I quit the hard shit.  That "call out" move he made is a patented trick around here.  I was personally upset when I found out you were in Myrlte Beach the night after the show but that was me droppin the ball.  Should've checked your profile more often.  Sure as fuck don't listen to KZQ.
