Wolfmother Lays an Egg!

Wolfmother delivered one of my favorite Rock albums in recent history with their 2006 self titled album.  Their raw, energetic, retro sound had me blasting the album on many many occasions!

Their 2nd album "Cosmic Egg" comes with high expectations to say the least.  2nd albums are often the make or break albums for many bands.  They now face the reality of a deadline, record label, tours, etc.... 

But this album is great!!!!

After 5-6 listens, not sure if it meets up to the first, but definitely a great album.  Starts off strong with "California Queen", "New Moon Rising", and continues strong with the "Beatle-esque" "In The Morning".  "Far Away" showcases are more commercial side, without sacrificing song quality.  This song has movie soundtrack written on it!

Generally, this album is more "Rock" while the first is more "Heavy Rock".    Favorite picks are "10000 Feet", "Back Round".  Both have a Zeppelin feel going with some Deep Purple type keyboards.

There are no weak moments on this album.  I predict their "Dark Side of the Moon" will come on their 4th album.  In the meantime, enjoying the ride!
