All this week, I will be featuring Fiona Joy Hawkins new CD release 'Blue Dream' on the Sky.fm's Solo Piano Channel.

Blue Dream is a 68 minute suite of music written by Fiona Joy Hawkins, produced by Grammy winner Will Ackerman (Founder of Windham Hill Records) and recorded at Imaginary Road Studios.  Featuring guest performances by Luka Bloom, this album goes from quiet contemplative piano to full orchestral, to world sounds, rhythms, jazz influences and back again to the perfect "Bach" moment – all in a breath.  Blue Dream can best be described as World Fusion Piano.

Fiona Joy Hawkins is an Australian Composer and Pianist who crosses genres. From Contemporary Classical, to World and New Age, her four albums have claimed many International awards and are available online at CDbaby.com, amazon.com, iTunes and many more.

After charting at 1 on the World New Age Radio Charts (across 9 countries) for all releases to date, she took out the prized Best Piano Album in the NAR Lifestyle Music Awards 2006 and a finalist in two genres for the LA Music Awards 2007.  Also, a finalist five times in the MusicOZ Awards and winner of a Piano Heaven Award (for being one of the top 30 Best piano albums), she hopes that Blue Dream will be the album to break through internationally.

"Fiona Joy Hawkinsʼ BLUE DREAM began as the most ambitious project of my entire career and resulted in one of the most remarkable collaborations this genre has ever known.  The scope of what we  contemplated in the beginning was so vast as to be nearly paralyzing, but with Fionaʼs talent, both as a composer and player, and a group of musicians of world-class caliber, a 67:50 suite of music resulted.  The music itself spans a broad range of styles and ethnicities and yet (though we didnʼt know whether weʼd succeed until the very end) is magically cohesive.  It works!  Never has faith been more rewarded.  In the process we restored meaning to a word which has been sorely abused; Blue Dream is unique and Iʼm as proud of it (and Fiona) as anything Iʼve ever worked on in my 35 year career of Grammy Awards and gold and platinum records." - Will Ackerman (Founder Windham Hill Records) Windham County, Vermont 2008
