often my boarders are caught saying and doing really really stupid things. I have decided that some of the things are so absurd or stupid.. or even sometimes downright funny to where I am going to start a running blog about it. And one day, when I have time, maybe Ill compile it all and make a book about it. Its just amazing the things that are said and done around here that even common sense in a child would know better.

Not all the things written are "stupid" some of them will be funny incidents in the barn or arena. Hopefully noone will mind me poking fun at them a little in here... after all we all do silly things.. hopefully we can all laugh at ourselves.

First few things that come to mind as far as stupid goes......

Having a horse that has NEVER been turned out, and is now 4yrs. old. Raced all his life... waiting till the barn owner leaves for the night and then turning out in a field without asking ANYONE if it was ok or even safe. field is not safe b/c it has no power to the electric, and we have been very careful on what horses go out in it b/c of this. We also have about 8 horses now all running mad while a crazy never been out horse finds the freedom to run where he wants and meet another horse for the first time.. hence kicking through the electric and getting caught up in it and then running around like mad going lame.

Now you tell me.. smart? or not smart? Had I been asked, I would have set him up in a field with no other horses to get worked up directly against him, and a field with a super hot charge. you know.. horse never out before... hummmmm.. lets just get him all worked up and put him right beside other horses who will run around crazy too.... and yet somehow I got blamed for this stupid mistake!

A boarder comes to me with a question... my white horse I have just shaved to the skin is all pink and peeling everywhere after being out in the hot sun all day? Do you think its some kind of crazy skin infection she caught from your farm? ..... ahhh... try sunburn.. but no... lets call the vet out first to ask her opnion........

My horse has this wierd small bump on his nose, symetrical to both sides, and hard.. feels like bones..... I say... seems like his conformation and youve just never noticed before... but no... lets call the vet again, who comes to the determination that yes ... indeed ... thats how a horse is built. but then owner decides it must be b/c his halter is left on way to long and has now deformed his nose..... by the way... this horses halter stays on only when being walked and tacked up... must be those super duper soft 6yr old bones.. darn them!

My horse is loosing all his winter hair in huge clumps!!! is he ok???? Should I call the vet........ ummmm... its spring? hello!!!!!

My horse could catch a disease from sharing a halter with yours... but of course its perfectly safe to be pastured with that same horse and eat the same hay/grass, drink the same water, and cuddle together.

Let me tie my horse directly to the stall walls, which are put together with nails that when pulled hard enough will probably fail.... i suppose thier horse always wanted a plank in the head

Let me let my horse run loose in the arena while I chase him as fast as he will go. Yeah, I saw the giant drag in the corner and I know its not safe... but if my horse runs fast enough he will jump it right?

what? tie my horse up while I am doing other things? hes like a dog.. wont he just stay?

8AM Mid March:
Its 30 degrees this am.. can you put my horses blanket on...
one hour later:
ok.. now its 40, could you put his light sheet on?
two hours later:
Oh gee... its now 70.. could you take it off....
one hour later:
oh no rain coming... could you put that light sheet back on?
One hour later:
Is it going to be cold tonight? could you put back on his heavy blanket?
8PM:
umm... I know your sleeping, but my horse MAY be cold.. could you go outside and check? and put the light blanket on under the one you already put on?
Midnight:
Hey... I know I have my horse on self care b/c I didnt want to pay for a stall all month, but could you put out one of the full care horses and put my horse in the stall b/c its really cold out......

10 flakes of alfalfa is ok for a horse whos been on grass hay to eat at one time right?

feed my horse only this special grain I bought for two weeks....hell gain weight on just that over just those two weeks

Why cant my horse gain weight and always has the runs? I mean I have changed his grain like every three weeks to something new... surely he should gain weight by now right?

What do you mean call out?

Why cant I use this stall I didnt pay to use and then leave my horses crap in it for the workers to clean?

turn off the water? why?

Sign above wash rack hose reads "YOU MUST DISCONNECT HOSE AND DRAIN COMPLETELY OR IT WILL FREEZE AND BURST HOSE AND PIPES"...... two days later the house is flooding b/c ... yup.. you guessed it.. hose connected and not drained... but yet someone went through the effort to hang it up on the rack correctly.

The ghost that lives in the clubhouse toilet will get me if I flush.. so I found it better to run after I went and leave the door wide open so the heat gets out and animals get in the house

More to come soon I am sure!

Silly Humans:) I live on a farm that is family owned..My human Parents are part of that family..
our place has about 5 borders and rest of the heard is owned by my family which like 26 horses...
Tho there are many 4-H kids... my human grandma hope is that she will teach the kids enough...so that they will not grow up and kill a horse someday..borders that we have are nice... but over the years they had some nutz they tended to weed them selfs out..or they have also done "there is the road it goes that way don't let me stop you" That has worked for some people who run boarding farms... I know humans who run those places do not make a ton of money they do it because they love horses. but people they can do with out.. I only like people that give me treats..
I have keep my halter on... because I don't believe in fences..I hang in the main herd then I sneek out into the big stud pasture ... my humans do not understand why I hang out w/ them and get along.. well am the boss.. am still a stud.. but my mommy says am only mini.. so can't do any damage..
keep up the good work:)
