Dear friends,

I hope this message finds you well and healthy
and inspired. I do. I do. I do.

Here I am in the midst of summer 2007 in NYC...
keeping my eyes open and taking it in as it comes.

(cue the music!)

Ah yes...music...

I've got some fun ones for this segment so I hope
everyone will exercise the DOWNLOAD button....
and load these songs into your iPod or burn 'em to
a CD.
I know some people are charging 99 cents to
download songs on Myspace...but I'm saying...this
is the internet...let's have FREE LOVE, FREE PEOPLE,
FREE MUSIC. Yea...

The first song is called Sailing through September
and it's a fun, upbeat pop song. It was written
on Rosh Hashanah a few years back. The only
reason why I knew it was the Jewish New Year's
holiday was because I was working on a CD
with an Orthodox friend at the time and she was not
able to work that day. I took the opportunity to write
my own little New Year's prayer.

"May you see the light - May your night be day..."

Skipping ahead a couple of years, we have one
of my most recent songs, called To Pick Up Myself.
This song has a lot of spacy instrumental sections
interspersed with the vocal parts. "Oh, I'd drink a
river of this chemical way you make me feel."

Mmmhmm..I sure would.

Hey would you like to hear some instrumental music?

Ok...perfect...the next song is called The Real Price of
Fame
but of course my long song titles never fit into the
tiny Myspace name space. Maybe I should start writing
songs with names like 'Love me Do'....although I prefer
songs with names like 'The last of the famous international
playboys'. (A great song, btw!) Hey, what does all this have
to do with The Real Price of Fame (or the price of tea in
China for that matter)? I don't know but this is a fun song
and I hope you can turn it up loud and shake something to it.

Ok, coming back down to earth, the last song
this time around is called Silent Name. As you
probably know, I write a lot of songs and I have
for many years. Silent Name is a contemplative
piano ballad...and it's a personal favorite of mine.
I could see it playing while the credits are
rolling on a movie. Is it OK to like your own songs?
I can tell you that I can be extremely critical
about my own music...but this is one I like a lot...
so I'm going to extend myself that liberty.

I hope you will extend yourself some liberty too.

You're actually pretty ok, ya know?

Thanks so much for listening. Have fun everybody...

Be happy,

-todd
