Current mood:  nervous
Category: Music
So, we showed up in seperate cars. Myself (HunDter, Vox) in Jess' car with James, Jim and Ange. Bill (Bass) in Neil's car with Kim. Brendan (Guitar) and Keith (Drums) in Bren's parent's car. When I get there, Bren and Keith are hanging out, partying with (I believe) The Front Page. Anyway, after some minor confusion over when we were supposed to go on, it was decided that we were to go on next. So, y'know.. we did. We set up (thank you to whoever from whatever band loaned us the extra cord, I needed that). And after brief technical problems we began our set. We played: 1. "School" by Nirvana, 2. "Generation Rx" By The Nervous Rex, 3. "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" by The White Stripes, 4. a Pixies "medley" including "Where is My Mind?" and a parody of "Giagntic" called "Titanic" by a band called Self (for Jess), 5. "Los Angeles is Burning" by Bad Religion, 6. "Superheroine Chic" by The Nervous Rex, 7. "The House of The Rising Sun" by Eric Burdon and The Animals, and 8. "I Wanna Be Your Dog" by The Stooges. Then Bill tells me we should be playing "Dammit" by Blink-182 (cuz we heard it being played between bands). I knew I couldn't do that and told him so, so he and Bren traded instruments and went at it. I sang backup. It was excellent for just having throw it together. As we were packing up our gear, I heard the lovely, lovely Strung Out!! Girls yell "We love The Nervous Rex!!!!" which is probably the best thing anyone has ever yelled at me en masse. Now, a few notes: Margaret is the awesomest spotlight girl ever! And whoever programmed the music between bands is also tanfastic (they played Elliott Smith and people sang along! I was in music-geek heaven!!). And generally, a good time was had by all. P.S.: I had to leave early, cuz I had o open at my work the next day (which means rising before the sun), but Brendan dropped off the band's cut of the door. As a band, collectively, we made... (drum roll please) Fifty Dollars!!!!!! Whoo!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, so I made a jar for The Nervous Rex's ca$h (photo of the jar coming soon). Thanks to all who came, fire-ants and syphilis to all who didn't. As they say "Champagne for my real friends and real pain for my sham friends". Can't wait to do it again!
