Rock n Roll Open Mic:
Rock n Roll Open Mic takes place at Rapture on the Downtown Mall of Charlottesville, VA every FIRST Sunday night of each month from 10 pm to 1 am.
We bring the amps, the drums, a keyboard, a guitar, a bass, and two microphones. Feel free to bring your own guitars, bongos, xylophones, mandolins, whatever, but we don't have room for extra amps or drums--so abstain from bringing them.
The idea behind this is to bring bands together to play in front of a nice, drunk bar crowd. You don't have to bring anything but yourselves, so full bands can easily jump on a play a few songs. We generally have a few sets of random mismatched musicians that hop up and throw down on the fly and that is usually fun, so don't be shy, just come out.
As we (Astronomers) are the host band, we usually take the first and last sets of the night, but of course this is negotiable. You know you can always see us play on a Sunday night when there is nothing else to do but drink $2 Jamaican beverages.
