SMALL JACKETS
Boogie Rock’ n’ roll!!! That’s what Small Jackets are all about!!!The band was formed in 2000 when drummer Danny “Savanas” met singer and rhythm guitar player Lu Silver. Danny was a session man who had previously played for several years as the official drummer in the discographical projects of the eclectic Paul Chain, while Lu was the drummer and singer of the garage band Three Hairy Fairies.In 2003 the single “Tell me baby” was released for the compilation IDBOX.IT. Besides the band, the compilation featured the most important names of the Italian independent scene, such as Afterhours, Giardini di Mirò, Yuppie Flu, Julie’s Haircut and Perturbazione.The first official album of the band, entitled “Play at high level”, was released in March 2004: it was very well-received and got excellent reviews (from magazines such as Rumore, Mucchio selvaggio, Rocksound, All Music, Rockstar, Music lava, Stonerrock, etc.). It was also acclaimed as the “first choice” on Rockit, generating big interest in the foursome from both audience and music critics. Since then, the band started an incessant series of live shows, including blazing and unforgettable live performances. Young and creative guitarist Eddy Current joined the band and the group shared the stage with important bands of the international rock’n’roll scene such as THE HELLACOPTERS, MOTORHEAD, THE LORDS OF ALTAMONTS, BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB, HARDCORE SUPERSTARS, DOLLHOUSE, DIVISION OF LAURA LEE, ADOLESCENT, WHITE FLAG and many more.“Walking the boogie”, the second album of the band, was released in 2006. Nick Royale and Robert, singers and guitarists of THE HELLACOPTERS, recorded the solos for the song “Forever night”.The new album of the Small Jackets is entitled “Cheap Tequila” and will be released in March 2009. It was produced in Sweden by Chips K (Sator) and Henryk Lipp, the same couple of sound producers/engineers who created the sound for – and worked in the studio with - THE HELLACOPTERS, THE NOMADS, SATOR, MILLENCOLIN. Among the various guests in the record we find singer Walt Lafty of Silvertide, an American band that needs no big introductions; Lafty is a big fan of Small Jackets and the band was very pleased to record part of the record together with him. The release date for the album in Italy is scheduled for the end of March with Go Down Records; as for the rest of Europe, USA and Canada different editions by foreign labels are now under negotiation.The live tour that will present the new album is the “CHEAP TEQUILA TOUR” and will officially start on 3rd April; in the first two dates, Small Jackets will share the stage with Thunder Express, whose lineup includes Strings – from The Hellacopters –.

La band è nata nel 2000 dall’incontro del batterista Danny “Savanas”, session man impegnato per diversi anni come batterista ufficiale nei progetti discografici dell’eclettico Paul Chain e da Lu. Silver batterista-cantante nel gruppo garage Thee Hairy Fairies, qui voce e chitarra ritmica.
Nel 2003 esce “Tell Me Baby per” per la compilation IDBOX.IT inserendoli assieme ai piu’ importanti nomi della scena indipendente italiana quali Afterhours, Giardini di Mirò, Yuppie Flu, Julie’s Haircut and Perturbazione.
Nel Marzo 2004 l’uscita di “Play At High Level”, primo disco ufficiale della band, viene accolto con molto calore ed ottime recensioni (rumore, mucchio selvaggio, Rocksound, All Music, Rockstar, Music lava, Stonerrock, ecc) ed è decretato “prima scelta” su rockit muovendo diverso interesse sui quattro da parte di pubblico e critici musicali.
Da allora è iniziata un’incessante attività live, proponendo infuocati e memorabili live show, inseriscono il giovane e fantasioso chitarrista Eddy Current e dividendo il palco con importanti band della scena rock n roll internazionale come THE HELLACOPTERS, MOTORHEAD, THE LORDS OF ALTAMONTS, BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB, HARDCORE SUPERSTARS, DOLLHOUSE, DIVISION OF LAURA LEE, ADOLESCENT, WHITE FLAG e tanti altri.
Nel 2006 esce “Walking The Boogie”, secondo album della band, dove Nick Royale e Robert, cantanti e chitarristi degli HELLACOPTERS hanno registrato ed inciso gli assoli in “Forever Night”.
A marzo 2009 uscirà il nuovo album degli Small Jackets “Cheap Tequila”, prodotto in Svezia da Chips K (Sator) ed Henryk Lipp, stessa coppia di produttori/ingegneri del suono che hanno creato il sound e lavorato in studio con THE HELLACOPTERS, THE NOMADS, SATOR, MILLENCOLIN. Fra i diversi ospiti del disco, vi è la presenza del cantante dei Silvertide Walt Lafty, band americana che non ha bisogno di grosse presentazioni, estimatore degli Small Jackets con cui hanno avuto il piacere di registrare insieme una parte. L'uscita del disco è prevista a fine marzo in Italia per Go Down Records, per il resto d’Europa ed America sono in trattative diverse edizioni con etichette straniere.
Il tour che presenterà dal vivo il nuovo album “CHEAP TEQUILA TOUR” partirà ufficialmente il 03 aprile e nelle prime due date divideranno il palco con i Thunder Express (in cui milita Strings - The Hellacopters).
