Hello folk and folks

We are off on tour again in the morning, hope you are coming to see us somewhere. This should be a memorable tour; we're visiting lots of places for the first time and I'm really looking forward to seeing more of Europe.

The session we recorded for World Cafe on NPR is being repeated this Saturday AND Monday, which is great. I remember it being a good session although I wouldn't dare listen myself obviously. If you missed it being broadcast before here are the details
World Cafe Broadcast Notification
National Public Radio’s World Cafe with host  David Dye can be heard on over 200 stations nationwide. Oh TraceyAnne - you do make it soooo difficult for these guys!!  You could hear the dj squirm in his chair as he struggled for his next closed question - please, just chat or blether or whatever in your interviews it'll be a lot easier for everyone!  I think you threw him right at the outset when you wouldn't accept his theory My Maudlin Career was a depressing album and he never recovered.  Great live sound though.  How long does it take you to set up for these things because the quality is exceptional.

I love her just the way she is, really... It's probably hard to discuss what seems to be very personal creative expression in someone else's context; she probably felt like she was being boxed into pinning the record down as this or that, when, as someone else said here, she'd rather everyone take from it what they will. Other songwriters might've just shrugged with a, "Yeah, I suppose," but she didn't, and I quite like that.

And of course, I love you Camera Obscura, and I will see you in Norfolk. Hope I can get my CD signed!

i personally think that the interviewers deserve to squirm..especially when they ask a question that 20 other people have asked and try to fit the album into a nice tidy box.  she always says that she wants people to take what they will from their music - if it means its a break-up album to you, then so be it but really, its an album full of depth that can mean many things at once - just like real life..  i get just as tired of interviewers who google info about their bands maybe 30mins before and ask generic questions that have been asked.. ask about their lunch or what tv show they watch or something that they love about the city they are visiting!  thats more fun and pertinent than the "message" they are trying to deliver with their album...

Hey - I'm not saying he was the world's best interviewer.  I was thinking that if you help these people along a bit more - they are more likely to play your records.  I'm not saying you have to accept whatever they say - but this is a performance just like any other - and there are two reasons for doing it - communicating with your audience, and getting more exposure.  It's the latter point I was addressing.  If you can get the people who run these programmes onside, they will play more of your music.  On another point, knowing what motivated a song to be written doesn't necessarily dictate that is the meaning/feeling you ascribe to it - for example, The La's There She Goes - is written about taking heroin - but that doesn't limit it's meaning or beauty.  You can know it and still have it for yourself.  Rant over!!!
