The defense was the key to winning this game. The Chiefs came out and smothered the Cburg offense, keeping them pinned deep in their own territory. After a couple of strong defensive stands, the Chiefs were able to sack the quarterback in the endzone for a safety, giving the Chiefs a 2-0 lead that they took into halftime.
To start off the second half, Dublin hit the Cburg offense hard and forced two fumbles, finally putting the Chiefs into scoring position inside the Cburg 10 yard line. Heath White scored the first Dublin touchdown of the season on a run up the middle. After a failed PAT, the score stood at 8-0 Dublin. Cburg Gold didnt give up, and after making their first real positive yards of the game, they were able to put one in the endzone to bring the game close again. After a successful PAT the score was 8-7 Dublin.
Dublin moved the ball for a few first downs late in the fourth quarter, but the Gold team was able to get one last shot to win the game for Cburg. As the clock was running out, the Cburg quarterback dropped back for one last attempt and was knocked off his feet by Brandon Jones to end the game.
