"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you." Isaiah 60:1

God has called us to lay it all down and live it all out- to be carriers of His glory. Today the Lord gave Marc Ross and I a cool opportunity to demonstrate the love of our God.

We were headed down Ocoee Street to get some ice cream at Bruster's. All of the sudden Marc Ross saw an old man laying on the ground on the side of the road so I found a place to turn around and we stopped next to the old man to see if we could help.

We get out of the car and there was a woman standing next to him and another standing to the side on the phone with 911. The woman on the phone was explaining that he had his eyes open and was slightly alert, but wouldn't say anything. At this point more and more people were beginning to stop and head towards him.

I asked if anyone knew him and the lady next to him said "Yes, he's my husband."  I asked her if she would mind if we prayed for him. She gladly agreed.  I grabbed his hand and began to pray for him with Marc Ross right behind me praying.

The old man immediately grasped on to my hand and looked at me and said something to the affect of "what?...now get quiet." So I prayed slightly quieter and he began to look and say, "Yes, Lord." We finished praying and he continued to grasp on to my hand. His wife began to talk to him and he said he wasn't hurting anywhere, and could get up. We just had him sit up.

The fire truck (no fire of course, but its Cleveland, they all come) and then the ambulance arrived. They talked to him and he could relay information just fine. They then helped him to his feet, began to walk with him down the sidewalk and Marc Ross and I slipped over to the car and drove off. Just as we were doing so, Marc Ross looks at me and says, "I want my ice cream."

None of those people in that crowd may ever know our names. We didn't even stick around for goodbyes. We did what we knew to do and watched the Lord do His work then immediately went about our day. God moments don't have to be some planned, extravagant thing that will take away from what your doing in your day. Its simply about meeting the needs that cross your path as you go.

Marc Ross' simple decision that I should stop so we could help the man, despite the already-forming crowd around him, led us into an awesome God moment... and we still got to go to Bruster's. (Once we got there, we actually decided burritos sounded better at the moment and we ate Moe's, but thats beside the point). We thought we were simply headed for ice cream, but God was leading us into a situation in which He was confident that we would answer the call- Lay it all down, Live it all out.

When you do something that you know you shouldn't be doing, someone might look at you and say, "You're just asking for trouble." Although, you aren't asking with your actual words, your actions are doing so. Let me challenge you today to rise up and live your life in a way that you "ask" for glory- so that the Love of our God may be spread across the earth.

"...You have not because you ask not." James 4:2
"...God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him." 1 John 4: 16
