Yay! I get to perform at an exclusive event this evening, but the real kick is I get to play only songs written between 1915 and 1949! In other words, "Pre-babybabybaby-Iamwomanwhere'syourpaychecklately-Immapopacapinyo*sscuzisallboutmypimposity Era" songs when songs were songs written by crusty guys in little brownstone piano rooms in NYC 24/7. Don't get me wrong, I love a good Sex Pistols epic any day of the week... but I find as I get older, I prefer high tea with a classy Dame at the Russian Tea Room, with Dave Brubeck in the background. (idk, mijm
["maybe it's just me",(can this one catch on?)], lol, omg...wtf?).
Been goin thru the archives for vintage pieces to fit the bill which I could accompany myself on nylon acoustic guitar comfortably enough...
(Good thing I was influenced early on by Freddie Green[Count Basie's only rhythm guitarist through the decades-check him out...]). I found "Makin' Whoopie", "Blue Champagne", and a new favorite, "Giver Him The Ooh La La" by Cole Porter among other treasures.
Who knows, maybe next week, if someone calls me to do Industrial Norwegian Goth, I'm all in...
Have a great weekend
&
Love to y'all!
