Wow it seems like summer was long, full and really wonderful. That was the first summer in a long time where I really felt that I fully enjoyed it. Maybe it's because I made sure to spend more time at the beach. And I found an old beat up paper back which I hungrily read while I sat on the beach, in the garden and in bed at night. (Poppy Z Brite's "Lost Souls" - a great vampire recommendation) And of course I played a looooot of gigs... at the beach, on stages, private parties, where everrrr. I took my daughter on adventures to new places, with no time limit, and ordered a whole lot of chinese food for dinner.
But I had to put my recording on hold for the most part. So with the end of summer came a renewed commitment to getting the next CD completed. And I dove into that whole heartedly. The best part is heading out to E. Setauket to RPR Records with my tracks to work with my old pal Steve. I haven't seen much of him lately so now it's really nice to have a regular time we are in the studio together. So far I'm really happy with everything that's been completed. I still feel a little stressed out about the songs that haven't even begun, but I know it will all come together exactly as it's meant to. And when it's meant to. Still it's a lot to think about.
I went to Pagan Pride Day in Battery Park last weekend. What a perfect day it was, too! The weather was just amazing - sunny, but just cool enough. There were great vendors, great performers and I especially loved doing my friend Dawn's kitchen witchery workshop. She is really charismatic and inspiring when it comes to cooking! I was there for the opening & closing rituals, too. And luckily I met my good friend Tracy at the Tarot workshop and we were able to hang out the rest of the day together & catch the train home. I almost made it to her drum circle afterwards but was too tired. I had caught an 8:30am train to the city and didn't get home til after 10pm, lol. Guess I aint the spring chicken I once was. So drum circles next time!
Speaking of festivals, I'm really looking forward to Samhain this year. (When am I not?!) But I looked up the LI Witches Fest and it doesn't appear to be happening this year... which is a bummer. It was GREAT last year! I will have to scout around & see what else is cooking. Of course I'll head out to Who-ville for that annual witches masquerade. Lots of fun. Probably play a few tunes, too. And I don't have a destination for Halloween night after trick or treating with my daughter, who wants to be mother nature - GREAT costume idea?!!!
Well I guess I'm done rambling for now... I'm heading to the theater tonight to record an old Sweet Little Sister song with Trina for the CD. It's going to be fun to be at the theater all alone - on that huge stage recording, with the full moon shining through the windows!  Hope it comes out good!
