Category: Life

Wow! It's been such a long time since I posted here. I kept on planning to post but then the longer I stayed away the harder it was… (Geesh I sound like someone who gave her kid up for adoption)

So I planned on posting about Jamaica (aaaages ago) because soooooooooooo much happened that I wanted to tell you guys about but I never got around to it, even though it is almost a year late (well kinda sorta) I still plan on posting about my dramas in the airport, and how they tried to tell me I didn't have a return ticket, Jamaicans obsession with homosexuality, My friend's hating azz sister, Staying in the countryside with just the darkness, trees and a sackful of weed, going to the beach after midnight etc etc…

I haven't blogged in so long because of the whole moving situation. As most of you all know I have been looking for a place since I got back from Brazil in January. My search took me far and wide and round the block and back again. After much run-around I found a nice little two bedroom terrace house. It is a little further out than I had wanted, but hey I've got to go with what my money can buy right?

I was actually hoping to be moved in before I went to Jamaica but alas t'was not meant to be! I had to move out of the place I was sharing with Ruth at the end of April and I moved back to my parents' home, which in a way was good timing because Ruth gave birth to a baby girl in July, and it was time for her to go too! I had my completion date then set for the middle of June. I was waiting for the mortgage offer to be amended, as it has been previously approved for another property that fell through.

Of course it all went wrong. I was told by my mortgage broker than the bank had refused the mortgage. They said that something had probably gone wrong with my credit rating since the last time I'd been scored and so begun the endless stream of phone calls and letters, only to find out that there was nothing wrong with my credit. I then went to see an independent financial advisor who came up with some other reason and tried to peddle me a mortgage which was a percent and a quarter higher than what I had previously had.

I attempted to shaft him only to get persistent telephone calls and emails trying to persuade me to go on his shitty "deal," as there was "no chance" of me getting the cheaper rate. In the end I had to lie and just tell him the cheaper rate had been approved to get him to bog off.

So the next couple of months I spent trying to get the cheaper mortgage approved. In the end it was, but of course more problems lay ahead. The bank took forever to send their surveyor round, and then once the survey was done, they sent out an offer letter to the solicitors with the wrong price, then they put it down as a flat, and then they put the amount of deposit down wrongly. It was never ending and in the end the letter was sent from the bank to the solicitors a total of 4 times before it was done correctly.

Well it's all over now and booooooy am I glad! I moved in on the 16th of September and I am loving it! I got a tracker rate, so now the rates have dropped down to the lowest rate since the 60's it is ALL to the GOOD for me!!! I had a good rate already and now it is EVEN better. I thought my ass would be broke and holiday less for a couple of years, but if the rate stays like this for a little while more it looks like that might just not be the case!!!

I had the good foresight to book a trip before the mortgage went through in the case of impending brokenness. So instead of Brazil this Christmas I'll be going to Ghana, and Nigeria for the first time ever.

So everybody... What's been going on with you since I was last here?

ABORTION PARTY!

Good luck with all that you do and remember to be happy for all that you have. Look at all that you have been through as life lessons. Be stronger because of it and make your life the best it can be. As for me working is keeping me busy as of late so I am looking forward to a vacation feel soon. Again good luck with everything.

We were meant to spend a week in the countryside with my friend's dad, but all there was was weed and trees. We ended up leaving after 2 days. He had a shoe box full of weed and my friend was worried that he was smoking so much because he has a bad cough. Then he pulls out the black bag that he tops up from and we were just speechless.

I'm so happy that you are writing and have moved into your new house! Can't wait to hear about JA. I haven't been home since 1995, so I need to get my butt back there soon. Philip and I are getting married in Negril where he was born and grew, since it's his first wedding I thought it's best to have the wedding the way he wants it. I will be my third and last, so I've done all that big "Lady Diana" wedding and small Reno style. We actually wants two, one here in the US and the other in JA., I said fine just tell me the time and date and I make sure to be there with "that's right" my big white wedding dress (well maybe off white lol)!

We are now in our beautiful two bedroom, two bath townhouse in Charlotte NC and very happy! I also start teaching two new Brazilian dance classes this Saturday.

So as you can see, it's the same ole thing with me lol rsrs!

Happy life sweetie and keep writing! Muito beijos!

Its been such a long time since we have spoken! I started my online biz last year and things have been busy with its ups and downs...mostly ups. I was hit with two crazy law suits in one week..which sucks but i have a very good, very expensive lawyer on my side..so Im not worry about those. Ohhh...Iya is getting married!! I just read that..too cool! I dont think marriage is in the works for me anytime soon but i have just recently met this pretty cool guy on myspace:) I started a martial arts/boxing class called Muay Thai that Im absolutely hooked on and I get to fight!! Its too cool..fight, kick, punch, elbow! I could do this stuff all day and look forward to getting in the ring one day. I think my experience in Brazil has made me more pumped up to protect myself and also has increased my fighting spirit. Make sure you take, if you have not already...a self defense class in your area. I think all women should. Take care...

I have started running, lost 20 lbs. and ran a 5k race in Nov. I also participated in a wedding for one of my male friends. interesting how everyone thinks they are in a movie when one of the bridesmaids is friends with the groom... but we really were JUST friends....
I have been working. and trying to write morel... I have been running more than writing though....:o..

you tell the BEST stories.

My goodies are not on your menu.

Not much has been up with me - aside from work and trying to stay warm as it's cold here. I'm headed away myself and can not wait. I haven't been able to break away. I wish the U.S. companies would adopt giving 3-5 weeks of vacation. I'd definitely travel more.

wow it surely has been a while, we missed you

soo happy for you that the drama with the house paid off, i know persistence pays in the end, i went through the same dram a few years ago, i went as far as cursing and screaming at people in the phone, as i was 23 and a black woman, i really believed people just thought i wan inexperienced and were tryna take me for a ride...

we await to hear your shenanigans from Jamaica...

thought you weren't ever gonna blog again. Remember how upset you were when a previous deal fell through? You might have bought at the top of the price boom if that hadn't happened..... lucky escape eh?
