anyway, it's 1am and i'm looking for excuses to not work so i typed up a 50wd essay and sent it in for China's "New Thinker" contest.  winner gets to carry the torch for a few miles or something.  The first line makes me feel like I'm back in middle school- but every submission has to start w that.  if i had to present it in class i'd probably fidget behind my back and stare at the ceiling too...

I believe that for the first time in human history science, philosophy, and religion are beginning to find common truths.  I believe that the energy of harmony and love that binds us all becomes more apparent as the world shrinks with the expansion of global communication.  We stand poised to uncover higher laws of life and peace that leave no one behind.  We must outgrow fear, let crumbling materialism run its course, and focus on the power to be found in good."
