Hello Everyone, Dr. Vern here again with a blog of Praxis-exploding dementia
We're back from the 11th Annual Klingon Feast in Daytona. We Came, We saw, We Drank (Bloodwine rules!) and we rocked the house! It was great to see all our Klingon Brethren and enjoy the Klingon games and Warrior competition (Chuck Won Warrior of the Year!, but I think KSV got screwed...he had mad Bat'leth skills). We played a 3+ hour concert for the attendees and unveiled Sci-Fried 2.0 (our New Band lineup). The beach games were a blast and I hate the sun you can see a myriad of pics from this event @
http://www.klingonfeast.com/Photo_Albums/Photo_Albums.html . Check 'em out!!! The crowning moment of the feast was when we suprised the Klingons by bringing in Goldy from Warband (The Official band for Feast for 7 years), who played a set with us. Goldy introduced us by officially passing the Klingon Feast Band torch to Sci-Fried, then he jammed his ass off with us! Long time attendees of the feast were delighted to see this! it was like 'Generations' at the Feast, except no one got shot. I had the pleasure of judging the synthahol (Bloodwine) competition...I barely remember it. Wow! one of the home brews was 190 proof!! I made the mistake of taking it like a shot. I am happy to report that this was a vomit-free event. If you missed this years Feast, make your plans to attend next year, as they will be part of TOUR 2010 for Sci-Fried.
Of course, you have lots of time for geek talk at Klingon Feast (it's one of the coolest things about fan cons)...I discovered that while geeks really appreciate great Sci-Fi, they really like to complain about things they can't control. Lots of wonderful Sci-Fi TV Shows and Movies have come and gone, but there are Sooooo many good offerings out there right now that not many fans seem to be watching, so I decided to blog about some of them. If you aren't watching...you should be:
Warehouse 13 (SyFy) --Just wrapped it's season, but is being renewed and it is still in reruns... This show is sort of like X-files meets the Friday the 13th TV Series...Government agents sent to collect artifacts that have special powers and store them in an ultra-cool top secret warehouse. Well cast and acted, you should be watching this show
Supernatural (CW) --If you haven't been watching this show, shame on you. Go out and get the DVD's and get caught up...This show is like Buffy with a much darker slant, and they aren't afraid to go to extremes.
Smallville (CW)--Entering it's 9th Season, it's time for you to drop your expectations of what you thought this show SHOULD be and start enjoying it for what it is...Damn good TV
Big Bang Theory (CBS) --yeah it's a sitcom! it's also the best Geek Sitcom I've personally ever seen. The episode that features an argument over which is worse Star Trek TMP or Star Strek V is a classic, and no self respecting geek should be missing this show.
I could mention Heroes, Lost, and Sanctuary here also, but I think you get my drift. The shows of yesteryear were great, some of them will never be duplicated, but if you aren't watching what's out there right now, you are missing the boat
Luvs Ya Bitches,
