Humanoids on Earth are unwittingly setting themselves up for disaster. For millennia your hairy, live-birthing race have been near or at the top of the food chain on your planet. As your technology has developed so has you way of living. You have it rather nice on your planet compared to planets in neighboring solar systems with your powered vehicles, climate controlled structures, control of electricity, etc. Despite your efforts to keep many of your material possessions clean, shiny, and “dope fresh,” many of you still throw bits of waste out on the ground just about everywhere. This is caused to a large degree by laziness and apathy, but more importantly by ignorance. There are many obvious reasons why throwing one’s refuse just anywhere is a poor decision that your planet has already caught on to. There are however even more repercussions to come if this trend of irreverence continues.
Other planets have had the same problems yours does. Ornette Coleman (the planet) had become overwhelmed by scattered piles of garbage and suffered many of the same consequences that your planet has, but to a more severe degree. Poisonous atmosphere, extinction of many species, toxic everything. The master race responsible, esquivelians, had just about dug themselves into a dull and restricted existence inside a poorly maintained system of bunkers. Meanwhile on the surface, the variety of creatures and critters had dwindled into three main categories: huge bugs, fish with legs and most dominant among them, the birds. Birds got real big, real smart, real fast.
All the garbage that esquivelians had left on the surface had found a new purpose as advanced building materials for these advanced birds. It didn’t take long for the birds to construct elaborate tools, weapons, buildings, and even vehicles out of what would be considered garbage. A sub-species of fish with legs had even been enslaved by the birds for the purposes of collecting and refining waste that had been dumped in the oceans. Soon the birds were so powerful the eventually dug up and ate every last esquivelian. Now the planet is completely dominated by the birds and is changing on a yearly basis as the birds develop faster and faster each year. Space travel is in their near future, then more domination.
