As a hairdresser, you've probably encountered a lot of reactions to different hair products, but did you know that your products could be linked to certain strange allergy symptoms? Many professional hairstylists are finding this out the hard way, after years of exposure to harsh chemicals. But now that the word is getting out, there may be a way to prevent the harmful side effects of working in a salon.

Working in a salon exposes you to a lot of toxic chemicals. Ammonia in the hair color, thioglycolates in perm and hair-straightening solutions, these are just a few of the many chemicals you are exposed to on a daily basis. Studies indicate that even low levels of exposure to these chemicals over a long-term basis can have serious effects on your health.

One hairdresser found this out the hard way when she started having problems with her immune system. She developed a cough so bad she spent most evenings after work "coughing my head off trying to clear my lungs out." Having stuck to organic foods for most of her life, she decided to look into the only area of her life that still contained toxic chemicals—her job. She got a blood test, which revealed she had a lot of toxic chemicals in her system that were making her sick.

It could have been enough to end her career. Instead, she searched for a better product. As a hair coloring specialist, hair coloring products were a constant exposure. That's when she discovered Organic Color Systems.

Organic Color Systems is a hair coloring product that uses mostly plant-based ingredients to color the hair. It contains no ammonia (one of the harshest ingredients on the hair color bottle and a common cause of respiratory problems ranging from coughing to pneumonia). The product was used widely in Europe for years, but for some reason hadn't found its way to the states, that is, until Hilton Bell.

Hilton Bell, one of the most prestigious hairstylists in Australia, brought Organic Color Systems to the United States as the sole distributor of the product. An innovator since the inception of his career, he wanted to improve the industry and offer people a better product. On top of the positive effects Organic Color has on the health of the hairstylist, it also gets a better result than the traditional product and is not difficult to use.

As for our hairdresser with the cough, she switched over to Organic Color and never looked back. "My career and my health both are restored, and another amazing thing is happening," she says. "My clientele has built up 10 fold in a very small amount of time. Which is great because I can work as much or longer than I had before the illness and am not tired and drained from being around toxic chemicals all day. It just feels really good to come home after a long day and not spend the rest of the evening coughing my head off trying to clear my lungs out."
