Who Gives Kudos:

October 8, 2008 - Wednesday

The Presidential debate is over (Didn't McCain make you just want to kick his azz?!  ),  I can let my mind wander to random places.

Oddly, my mind came back to Politics. Well, not really. There will be a heatwave in Alaska before I vote for her but Sarah Palin is one fly bytch! Sure the stuff flying out of her mouth is azz backwards but her style is ova! Did yall see the suit and pumps that Ms. Thang was wearing during the Vice Pres. Debate? Fabulous, honey. *snaps* Palin will be the freshest loser on the block!

[Oh and you may be able to wear your tshirts and buttons to the polls on Election Day. See comments from the previous blog]

Why am I so into HBO's True Blood?!
Promotional poster
This show is soooo, um, interesting! Yes, vampires surviving on synthetic blood while freely walking amongst humans is sheer ridiculousness. However while I'm watching the show a world like that seems totally normal. For that hour the lead character's ability to read thoughts and visions also seems ordinary. The one annoying part about the show is the preoccupation with sex. Come on now. I know vampires aint getting that much azz. haha

My Mini-Me and I were walking around the mall the other day, right? Quick question, Who the hell brought back peace signs???

Peace Canvas Tote  Winged Peace Sign Tee

wooden peace earrings gold peace charm necklace

There were peace signs everywhere (earrings, t-shirts, on purses, on hats...) Well, the effects of war could be bringing on the new Peace Movement. Or maybe the fashion powers that be have overdosed on skulls and did a total 180.  Whatever the reason, peace is definitely 'in'.  Mayn, I felt like I was thrown into a De La Soul video.  What's old is new once again and again and again, huh?

Speaking of De La, what'd you think of VH1's Hip Hop Honors?

The Slick Rick,  De La and Naughty by Nature tributes made us get off the couch. I loved hearing the history of how each honoree got their start in Hip Hop in addition to the performances. Even the Cyprus Hill segment had me nodding and I've never been a fan. The Too Short portion was hot garbage to put it nicely.  While Bun B was 'honoring' him he watched on from the balcony like a pissed off husband at an opera during Monday Night Football. Even Short's guests looked like they wished they were somewhere else, ANY where else. That was just a low point of a great show. HHH '08 made up for VH1's bullshyt list of the 100 Greatest Hip Hop Songs.  I truly love PE but I don't think it's a coincidence that "Fight the Power" is the no. 1 song on the same network that aired the Strange Love and Flavor of Love 1 & 2. Hmmm...

From Hip Hop to Heroes! Lawd, this show is like Red Bull for my eyes and mind. Week after week I'm left thinking of the possibilities and waiting on the edge of my seat for the next scene. I'm really lovin' how they are flipping the script by showing the bad sides to the 'good guys' and vice versa. I mean, when the show first began I would have never thought I'd be cheering for "Horn Rimmed Glasses" one day. BUT, I wasn't buying that bullshyt about Sylar being a nice loving father.

I'm sorry but I've seen him off too many people for me to forget all of that in one or two episodes. Speaking of Sylar, did you other Heroes fanatics notice that his son's name was Noah? Hmmm. Bennett doesn't seem to be around in the future… Peter is really turning out to be a true fukk up. His mother is setting him up to get served though. When I saw who Hiro and Ando dug out of the grave I gasped. Adam is supposed to be a bad guy but I like yo.  I don't know if/how he'll make everything right again but I'm glad they brought him back. Ok, who is this mystery dude that's returning next week??? Is it Bob?

From my own geek chat to this geek right here:

Ok, WTF?

Many parents of toddlers are familiar with DJ Lance Rock from Yo Gabba Gabba. It's good to see brothas in children's entertainment (a la Bill Cosby, Levar Burton, Larry Fishburne and that bald dude from Sesame Street…) but DJ Lance is a little bit disturbing. He reminds me of Arsenio Hall high on Magic 'Shrooms.  Actually, the whole show is like a psychedelic drug trip… Well, not that I'd know.  Anyway, Don't get me wrong. Yo Gabba Gabba is actually very entertaining and on occasion they even have segments with Biz Markie beatboxing (seriously).

HAHA! I'm not surprised that Juelz messed up a Naughty song. How old was he when it came out? *smh* Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if he messed up his own song!

LOL! @ "Break it dooowwwwwn". I can't front on YGG. It really is a fun show. I'm just waiting to see Chris Brown drop by to show us a Dancey Dance. :-D

Well, my friend, McCain, my friend, is not going to win this election, my friend. If I was playin' a drinking game for everytime he said "my friend", I'da been fuuuuukk'd up by 9:30.

I haven't noticed anything about Palin but her glaring cluelessness. Shout out to Riverview Elementary School where I'll be going to vote on Election Day. *winks*

I didn't get to see the Hip Hop Honors, but you know I'll have to catch 'em. As for that top 100... wow. Some of those songs had nooooooo place on a top 100 of ANYTHING. When I saw PM Dawn up in there, I was like "oh aight, it's one of those patented VH1 lists". I think it's funny that a channel that has generally stayed far, far away from hip-hop even finds the balls to host a list of a bunch of songs/videos they've never even played on the station.

Biz on 'Yo Gabba Gabba' is funny as shit... I know a girl whose son watches it and she sent me some videos of it not too long ago, lol

Deux kudos!

LMAO! Good point, my friend.

I guess I've noticed Sarah's style because that's the only thing she has going for her. As much as McCain dogs Barack for his 'celebrity status', Palin is actually the Paris Hilton of Politics.

Yoooooo, when I saw La Trimm's "Cars That Go Boom" listed as one of the Top 100 Hip Hop Songs I got a screw face. Top 800, ok. But Top 100 Hip Hop songs EVER? Hell no! Sadly, I continued watching.

It's a trip because YGG is becoming a hit with college students and young adults. (I wonder why... *cough* booze and weed *cough*). Next, we'll be hearing a Club Music mix to the theme. hehe
