SO! It’s been five years since the US government launched their offensive against Iraq, and thank goodness. What would we have done if they hadn’t gone in there and found all those Weapons of Mass Destruction™.. Oh wait... yeah they didn’t find those; the Iraq Survey Group concluded in 2005 that Iraq had ended its WMD programs in 1991 and had no WMD at the time of the invasion.

But it’s ok, because they overthrew that supporter of islamic terrorism! ..well, Saddam himself was never actually a supporter of islamic terrorism. He was actually hated by the Taliban for his secular views.

But he was a tyrant dictator! ..who was democratically elected... and who was put in power by the US government in the first place.

But that’s fine because the people are free now! Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi people died before their time during Saddam’s reign! ...except poverty levels are higher than ever, and more Iraqi citizens are dying now as a result of the invasion  than Saddam had ever caused. And most of the hundreds of thousands who died perished because of food and medical sanctions imposed on the country by the US government, as well as regular bombing runs that continued throughout the Clinton and Bush II administration.

But the Iraqi people now have a real chance to move ahead!! ...except that their country is in such a horrible state that the second US troops pull out, both Turkey and Iran will be in a perfect position to move in and take over the country in a matter of weeks.
