Ripping up the rule book once again
44 celebrates its first event at the
Roxy Basement Bar,
showcasing a line up that'll have both mouths water and jaws dropping!
Determined to bring you guys and gals the most cutting edge electronic
artists, we've drafted in two of fine young gentlemen who will no doubt
rock the foundations on
Friday July 3rd.

Topping the bill we welcome non other than king of 'face melting dubstep' and one of the nicest guys you likely to meet
RESO. Long term chum of
44
he court our attention when early demos filtered through our secret
spy's ears many moons ago. Upon first hearing this twisted genius lay
down outstanding remix after remix and timeless tune after tune we knew
the boy would go far and my goodness he's certainly done that! His set
at
44 is guaranteed to be legendary and certainly not for the faint hearted, we can't wait...

Co-headlining on July 3rd a man who refuses to be pigeon holed
SCANONE,
this guy has been busy beavering away crafting his individual take on
electronica since before cats were cats! With a sniff of electro, an
armpit of techno, a bucket load of glitchy acid and a mountain of
distorted bass his music is impossible to resist.
SCANONE will exclusively showcase his brand new live show on July 3rd and surely set to gain many a new fan in the process.

44 Presents...
RESO /
SCANONE (LIVE)
Friday 3rd of July @ The Roxy Basement Bar
RESO (
Civil Music /
Pitch Black)
"Grotty,
liquid, dark, brutal and lush are all words used to describe the music
of 25 year-old Reso, such a contrasting set of adjectives are hard to
understand but after a listen to a few of his productions, you begin to
understand why. A drummer at heart, these natural patterns of “skin
hitting” are engrained within his brain and shine through on his
digital programming and productions. Reso’s aural identity is a densely
layered, high octane tapestry, rich with musical texture and colour,
which really sets him apart from the minimal sparseness of many of his
fellow producers. Mary Anne Hobbs has been a fervent supporter of the
young producer, commissioning a special 20-minute mix for her Radio One
Breezeblock show back in January 2007. Reso is certainly one of the
most technically gifted producers to have sprouted from the dubstep
scene and is fast gaining recognition from the techno, glitch and
breaks scene for his own twisted take on the dubstep/ 130bpm-140bpm
sound. Recently Reso’s remix of Buraka Som Sistema and The Dubstitutes
2 Faced Rasta song (which have both been featured on the Fabriclive 42:
freq nasty cd) alongside Reso’s own production “if ya cant beat em”
have been gathering strong support from some of Dubstep’s key players
such as Benga, N-Type and Rusko. He has also worked with the enigmatic
producer Burial, engineering his critically acclaimed remix of Jamie
Woon’s Wayfaring Stranger. With a busy DJ schedule, Reso has been up
and down the country smashing dance floors from Newcastle to Nottingham
and London, whilst regularly hitting mainland Europe. With a number of
key releases on Storming Productions, Destructive and Urban Graffiti
Reso has now become part of the Civil family and is currently writing
his album for release in 2009. Reso is the soundtrack to a robot
genocide."

SCANONE [
LIVE] (
Yellow Machines /
Combat Records)
"Intelligent
drum patterns cut with crisp IDM elements and cinematic harmonies
reinforced with London-bred basslines. This is the sound of Scanone aka
Bionics aka Label boss for 'Yellow Machines'. Jude Greenaway is an
accomplished producer and DJ and has been playing and releasing music
for over a decade, In that time he has managed to develop a sound that
skirts around the lunatic fringes of a myriad of underground genres,
from bass-heavy electro and techno to glitched-up IDM and techy,
brooding, dubstep. Scanone is perhaps best known for his work with
Combat Recordings, Scanone’s 7th Bullet EP was unleashed in autumn 2004
to great support within the electro community, with ‘Kik It’
pre-empting the electro/grime crossover by a whole year. His other
tracks have been supported on BBC Breezeblock, in particular the 2-step
electro track ‘YesYes’ and dubstep/electro mutant ‘Dubwise’. 2009 sees
Scanone continue to pursue his unique angle on dark, bass-heavy
dancefloor electronics, Now with the launch of his own label "Yellow
Machines" with some heavy releases due and a audio visual experimental
DVD album in the pipeline...watch this space!"
