Neil Diamond, and chairs

Saturday night, Paul Sanchez, by request, sang I Am, I Said by Neil Diamond. Usually, when Paul does someone else's song, he does not impersonate the original artist, but in the case of Neil Diamond, he does, quite capably.

I Am, I Said includes the lyrics:

"I am" I said
To no one there
And no one hear at all
Not even the chair

Not even the chair, and chairs are usually such good listeners. Uh, no, Neil, chairs are inanimate. That is, most chairs are. If Neil Diamond were lucky enough to go to Pee Wee's Playhouse, both Chairy and Dog Chair would hear him. Chairy might even answer him.

Neil Diamond: I am! (I said.)

Chairy: I know you are, but what am I?

Dog Chair: Grrrrr.
