In 2000, I released a collection of demos, bundled with the previously released "The Beautiful Ep", creating a new release entitled "Peppermint Daisy Music".

Almost 9 years later... I have the courage to say... I'm sorry.

The collection was a mistake! The production quality was far too low to be a commercial release. The songs were in a development stage and I don't know if you've noticed, but they have had no life beyond this album. Factory seconds if you will.

So why was it released?

Ok, being brutally honest, I needed some income.

The post Guardian years were extremely lean. In fact, it wasn't until mid 2005 that I finally got some stability back. I likely could have made more working at Taco Bell full time than I did chasing music during that period. Don't get me wrong, I had some great moments along the way, but certainly not enough to sustain a family. In hindsite, I was selfish. But I always had Heather's support. Even when I truly didn't deserve it. She's a remarkable, forgiving and encouraging woman.

Ok, back on track...Peppermint Daisy. I have gotten e-mails over the years from people who say they enjoyed the rawness of that disc, but I still regard it as bottom of the barrel commercial product. It served it's purpose, I got paid. But I sacrificed my integrity for a check.

Never again!

I promise.

God gave me a gift. If I can't honor Him through excellence with that gift. I need to re-evaluate.

PS- If you really must have this collection, I have noticed that it's on about every torrent site out there. Don't waste your cash on all those ebay items with my name on it. I don't receive a penny from them and the quality is low. Stick to the Guardian, London Calling, Adriangale and Crunch releases. Songs For Heaven & Earth/Dios De Amor was also a low budget recording, but I still stand behind that work.

This touches on the one thing that I think all extremely talented musicians forget - the fans have your back regardless of what you do and for the most part regardless of your reasons. (Feeding your family and keeping a roof over your head by the way ..is considered good reason!)

I realize that as musicians you want to put your music out in a way that is absolutely 100% perfect in your eyes and to your ears. The interesting thing is that fans will enjoy the less than perfect stuff just as much simply because its a part of you and a part of the process.
(This explains the obsession of many fans wanting the bootlegs and studio tapes and everything else they can find!)

As a friend I would absolutely loan ya twenty bucks if ya needed it - the fact that I get music in return is just an added perk. So apology accepted but not one that I really felt you needed to make - at least not to me.
Love ya!! :-)

Don't be hard on yourself. Everything in life is a lesson. Hey, at least you have a CD. Most people are lucky just to have an "Emplyee of the Month" sign.

You've done good, all around

We love ya.

Jamie, I am at a point in my life where I am honestly doing whatever I can to struggle to maintain income. My wife IS the breadwinner and that doesn't make me happy. I wish I were more help. But due to the circumstances we find ourselves in at this time, as well as the "Jezebels" in our lives who make it their business to "run the church", I am doing whatever I can to scrape up a dime. That being said, it is my belief that you are truly a man of integrity... you went to the only thing you knew... and did the best you could with what little resources you had to try your best to help your family (just like I am now). God understands that and so do your fans. You owe NO apology to your fans for your struggles. Being a real fan means that we stick with you through the good times as well as through your struggles. You are in a better place now. I hope I had a part in encouraging you in that direction. You and I both know that God will carry you to even better places - but when more struggles come (and rest assured they will) ... we will still be here for you - not for high budget, top of the line quality music, but for Jamie Rowe... Earl... the amazing man of God and friend you are. The excellence you honor God with is an offering of your heart! Not a disc. Thanks for the years of great christian grooves. I love you Bro.

Merry Christmas
Scott Herrin (a true fan)

I really like that song "Do you know". Was just a nice mellow tune to chill after a show. Don't be so hard on yourself Jamie. We've all done things during the lean times to pay the bills. It's good that you've learned from that man. I'm going through the same realizations in my end of the world too. Pretty similar. Good to see someone else realizing the same thing.
God bless
