Current mood:  grateful

Finally back home in SD after the longest and most extensive TUBBY tour to date!  Not without a few stumbling blocks to be sure, but we experienced a level of kindness and support from both our fans and complete strangers that made it not only possible but downright enjoyable.  Not even 200 miles into the trip, we found ourselves trying to remove a fender with a hacksaw in freeway traffic so we could get the spare tire on the trailer.  That got us to Yuma, AZ where the van came to a stop right in front of a Highway Patrol officer.  Fortunately, no searches for illicit substances were performed, and he assisted us in getting our vehicle towed.  They couldn't fit 5 in the tow truck, so a second vehicle came out to take us into town, driven by one interesting chick.  "You boys smell good," she said as she weaved through traffic at roughly 85 mph, detailing the price of hookers in Mexico and the three strokes she'd had in the past month.  We calmly reached for the "oh shit" handles.  We rented 2 mini-vans in order to make the first gig of the tour in Phoenix and returned the next day to pick up the van and brand new fuel pump.  We were a little worried about how we were going to pay for said pump, but the fans came through, donating almost 75% of the cost!  It's a level of support that makes us a little misty-eyed... The van held together for the rest of the trip and we were able to concentrate on the business at hand: playing a ton of shows, partying with new and old friends, and finding a place to sleep when the party wound down.  There wasn't a night where someone didn't offer us a floor, a couple guest rooms, or a whole house.   We played some excellent shows to some great crowds all over Colorado.  We felt the Tubbyfunk taking root in a few more places across the country, and that's why we do what we do.  So, to wrap it up we gotta give a huge shout of thanks to everyone who gave us some emergency cash or a place to pass out, and also to those who came to the shows and rocked out - you're the people who made it a successful tour!
