Current mood:Too awake for 7:43 AM
I was looking at a friend's myspace, because she posted a bulletin. Then I looked at some of her friends' myspaces, because I was bored (it's 7:42 in the AM.. nobody's awake, what else am I gonna do?). She's still in high school, back in Naples, as are most of her friends. So I've noticed a disturbing trend. Why is it that myspace profiles are starting to tend more towards underage drinking/smoking pot/being a skank? WTF is wrong with my generation? Sometimes I detest being the same generation as these people, I think it's part of the reason why I tend to socialize with people who are 2-10 years older than me. I just don't get why kids/teens/whatever think it's cool to post a picture of them with a beer, or holding a pipe, or wearing a thong and bending over? You do a little drinking now and then? That's cool, so do I. I'm not 21 yet, doesn't bother me. But kids now drink because they think it's cool to drink, "fiddy cent drinks, so I should too!". Or smoking weed.. I've tried it, I enjoy it, but I stopped. Again, kids start smoking weed because "fiddy" or whoever does it. Then they can talk about "smokin trees while pokin frees" or whatever the hell they do. I see a big increase in smoking too. Not just cigarettes either. MTV recently showed Fiddy cent saying he paid $3K for a single Cohiba cigar. So now they think they should smoke cigars to be "cool", even though they don't know what in the hell they're doing. I'll be sitting outside having a nice cigar, and some kid'll come up.. "Oh yeah man, I smoke cigars too, it's good shit" and I'll ask what they smoke.. "Oh, you know, black & milds, phillies, swishers, the good shit man!" and they'll grin... WTF? Smoking just cuz some "role model" (I use the term loosely) does it? Finally, the craze of 12 year olds signing up for myspace and dressing in clothes that I would kill my future daughter for wearing when she was 20. (God, if/when I have kids, please make them all boys, it's so much easier!) I see girls my age wearing nothing but a towel, or just covering themselves with a hand, and 300 comments "wow" or "sexy" or "hot" or "move your hand" or "you're a hot piece of ass"... WTF is up with the objectification of women? And WTF is up with the sluttiness? The same girl would get 3-4 comments if she posted a picture of herself in a nice dress... Another thing I've noticed, but not on myspace. A lot of people my age, sometimes a little younger ask me about my piercings. That's fine, I wouldn't have gotten them if I didn't enjoy the attention they bring, or if I couldn't at least tolerate it. But a common response I get is "yeah, I'm thinking something like that, just to piss my parents off" or when we talk about tattoos "Yeah, I'm thinking like a skull, or a dragon, or something badass to make me look cool".... Two absolutely SHITTY reasons for doing something. One, to piss your parents off, and two, because you think it will make you "cool"... I have piercings. Not because I want to make my parents mad, but because I enjoy them. Same with tattoos. I want one. I will have one. Not to be "cool", but because I want one, I enjoy the art. That's why I'm custom designing one that I'll enjoy for the rest of my life, not going with some dragon and skull bullcrap that's meaningless and I'll regret to no end when I'm thirty.

Ok.. this blog probably didn't make sense, and I'll probably delete it later, when I'm coherent.

Cliffnotes: Today's youth SUCKS, and I don't like being lumped in with them. I act/think too damn old for my own good.. I should be a 25 year old, or older...

EDIT: As an aside. P3oPl3 wH0 tYp3 lyKe dIs, plz go ki11 uR5e1v5 K, tHx, bYe! LOLZ!!!1!!ONE!!!!

seriously.  i think we're ok.... but kids a few years younger than us, i mean - what the hell happened?  has the world gone mad?  i don't understand it.  especially the whole thing with little girls trying to dress provocatively and the kids getting into things they shouldn't.... at least not when they're in their early teens.  i mean, c'mon.  11, 12... it's insane.

I freaking love you right now!!! AMEN to everything you just said!! I look around, not just on myspace but out in public too, and see these 12 year old girls dressed up like miniature street walkers!! WTF!?? Where are their parents?? AND I hate that people consider these same people (a.k.a. mindless sheep) to be in my generation!! Fuck that! We are not the same!! Thatâs why all my friends (except you tehe!) are all older! Because they, like you and I, do not need to look to Lindsey Hoebag or Fiddy bullet holes for an example of whatâs cool. As it turns out being a good table dancer is not a very desirable skill in the real world! Anyhow, this is not meant to be my rant. Sorry! I just wanted to agree with you!! Screw this, lets start our own generation with IQ requirements!!! Wootwoot! What do you say!?
