Many of you may not yet know the names
STD and Viscera, two young local bands out of the Sacramento area that can't vote yet. Now when I say young, I a mean the median-age of the members is probably 16.
STD started at as a music development project at a local music shop and has grown into a full-gigging band that plays a solid, hard-rock style with just enough punk on top. They remind a little of Green Day and Generation X.
I caught their act on a recent bill with
Silent Treatment and
EchoPheen at the Underground in Roseville. Honestly, if I would have closed my eyes…I would never have known that these kids were teenagers (well they are all teens except for Steve Mahoney, their music mentor that fronts the band).
STD had great energy, well constructed songs and got the crowd moving. Give them a little more live experience under their belt and they are definitely on track to become a top local band.
