I'm sitting in my parents' TV room in Portland, OR right now while I write this. I'm also at the tail end of a hangover from last night's blowout, but it was worth it. See, last night I was on the Late Show with David Letterman. Yeah, holy crap is right. I watched it with friends crocked. Thing is, I drank for fun but also because I was nervous. Will it come off okay on the TV box? Felt great live, but I've been wrong before. In so many different ways. As it happens, it went well. Now I just wish I would have switched to water around 10.
Still can't believe it even happened. Last Monday was the taping. They flew me out to NY, I did a show the night before, had a few anxiety attacks, and finally did my set. THEN got to sit with David Letterman and talk to him. Which doesn't happen usually for unknown comics. Like me. See below.
I've been responding to emails and texts all day. Which has made me feel somewhat productive. It's really amazing. Thanks for all the well wishes and kudos, everybody. What a lot of people don't know is that I was bumped twice before I finally got put on. The first time was for Barack Obama, the second time for Bill Cosby. Who? Exactly. Now, I'm not saying my initially not being on Letterman caused Obama to be elected, but I'm also not saying it didn't. You're welcome, America. Think nothing of it.
Finally, just thanks. Thanks for coming to see me, being my friend, supporting the arts, and/or just reading this right now. If you've done any of these things, I appreciate it more than you know. Also, if we're Facebook friends, thanks for not getting weirded out by the fact that I recently became a fan of The Reach-around, Hard Spanking, and Bridles. And Steve Agee.
You're the best around,
No one's gonna ever keep you down
