Originaires d'Avignon, Christophe, Cyril et Olivier ont construit leur expérience musicale au début des années 90 au sein d'un groupe pop nommé THE STRAWBERRY SMELL. Leurs influences tournent alors autour de la scène "MOD" anglaise des sixties ce qui les amènera à devenir l'un des groupes les plus actifs de cette scène durant les 90's. En 1997, un de leurs 3 singles sort sur le label mod londonien "DETOUR RECORDS" puis le groupe autoproduit dans la lancée son album "ODORAMA" qui sortira finalement sur le label New Yorkais "RAINBOW QUARTZ" dans une dizaine de pays entre 2001 et 2002. Après deux années de promo assidue qui les aura conduit à se produire en live à la BBC de Londres et en plateau TV en Espagne, le groupe se sépare après 12 ans d'existence en 2003.
En 2006, ils retrouvent Laurent, un ami originaire de Montpellier qu'ils connaissent pour avoir officié au sein du groupe THE SHAPES à la même époque qu’eux. Son expérience est entre temps passée par plusieurs autres groupes comme SUNFISH DAZE (premier groupe d'Emilie Simon), GORDINI 2000, puis le trio power pop THE SPEEDOMETERS de Toulouse, et c'est tout naturellement qu'ils forment alors ensemble PONY TAYLOR. Depuis fevrier 2007 leur ami guitariste Alex , ex "boolings" qui officie actuellement dans DORA, rejoint le groupe pour constituer ce qui sera desormais la formation definitive .
Originally from Avignon, Christophe, Cyril and Olivier constructed their musical experience in the early 90s with a pop group called THE STRAWBERRY SMELL. Their influences who traced their roots from the 60s English Mod Scene is what led them to become one of the most respected groups of the English Mod Scene in the 90s. In 1997, one of their 3 singles was released under the London based mod label “Detour Records.” The group then produced and launched their album “ODORAMA” which was released under the New York label “Rainbow Quartz” in a dozen countries from 2001 to 2002. After two relentless years of promoting their album, they were called upon to play live on the BBC and on Spanish National TV. The group would then separate after 12 years of existence in 2003.
In 2006, they reunited with Laurent, a friend from Montpellier, France, who was the front man and lead guitarist of the group “THE SHAPES” in the 90s. Since then, his experience has evolved from time spent with several different groups such as SUNFISH DAZE (first group of Emilie Simon), GORDINI 2000, and the power pop trio from Toulouse, THE SPEEDOMETERS. This is how PONY TAYLOR was naturally formed.Since february 2007, their friend Alex (ex-boolings, current DORA guitarist), rejoined the band to complete the definitive line up .
