ok ok...

see, i got the facebook bug.  you can blame hussain for that.  he popped my myspace cherry and from then on, well... i kinda forgot myspace exists.  bad bad BAD kinnie.

i will i swear to god, or goddess, try and get back intot he myspace vibe... i can see people still use this site so... ME WANT USE TOO!!

in the meantime, i have good news:
i DO have a new record coming out in feb.2010.  it is coming out thru LAST GANG LABELS, the distribution side of LAST GANG RECORDS.  this is the same way Lights! came out, and it is kinda new skool negotiations where artists drive the project with a powerful label infrastructure in place.  the last gang team is pretty hella dope, and these people have acts like METRIC, DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE, TERRI LYNN, and DEATH FROM ABOVE in their roster.

for the record, my new album is called, "a different day".... and is all about love.  not just romantic love, but LOVE and the ethic of love --- as in, non-linear thinking that evolves constantly and is not result-oriented.  non-linear, or indigenous thinking, is about constant negotiation, and my feelings are that if people weren't so focussed on WINNING or BEING RIGHT that we would listen to eachother more carefully without the goal of proving eachother wrong.  this is a love perspective.

i also have a new management team on board, BEDLAM MUSIC MANAGEMENT.  thanks to KAREN BLISS, i showcased successfully in TO and bedlam got it.  they have THE ARKELLS, ALEXISONFIRE, BEDOIN SOUND CLASH.  they are cool, laid back and to the point, something very crucial in good communication.  no bullshit, straight up, and handsome hand shakes.

lastly, my man and i are moving to TO!! we are in the move right now... and will be located officially there by sept/oct 2009, ready to play hard ball with movie and TV makers (my man is stuart pierre, he won the AMERICAN INDIGENOUS IMAGE AWARD 2009 for BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR) and music heavy hitters worldwide.

i love you vancouver, but i love TO and the east in equal proportions... so any of you 'awwwww... toronto is so lame man... yo nobody even talks to eachother there' naysayers can suck my fine ass, CUZ LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT AND GOOD PEOPLE EXIST EVERYWHERE YOU JUST GOTTA BE OPEN.

i realize it is soooooo vancouver to diss TO and sooooo TO to diss vancouver but honetly i think everywhere is beautiful and i have travelled all over the world and think this globe is gorgeous... so please, no "you will hate TO" letters yo.  we go with open heart.

heh.. I think everyone and their moms + grandma's caught the facebook bug.  but, how happy was I when I logged into myspace today and saw there were new blog posts from Kinnie! :)  hearing you have a new album coming in Feb. is even more exciting.  it will be a real treat to have you out here in T.O. (well, I'm in Kitchener) and have the priviledge of seeing you live more often.  you've remained one of my favourite canadian female artists since the day I first saw you perform for the Hemp BC/Marc Emery benefit concert held in Gastown in 1995.  best wishes for your x-country move... enjoy the journey!  :)

:)

You say "it is soooooo vancouver to diss TO and sooooo TO to diss vancouver"... but I'd revise and say "it is soooooo vancouver to diss TO and sooooo TO to ignore vancouver."  I've lived in both cities and appreciate them both for what they are.

But there's nothing more frustrating in Vancouver than watching a Toronto-based *national* news programme and hearing about traffic problems on the 401, or about Ontario weather, or (ahem) garbage strikes.
