Stargrazer is making a transformation:

I'm not playing shows at bars anymore.  Lots of reasons.  But it all boils down to my music not really being "bar music."  Instead of being disgruntled and disenfranchised, I am embarking on a local tour:

The Quest For Oil.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Here's the gist of it:  I want to play music in out-of-the-ordinary places.  In the woods.  In your backyard.  In a gazebo in the park.  In a tree.  On the top of a parking garage.  Under a bridge.  An announcement of the location will go out to fans of the Stargrazer Facebook and Myspace pages, maybe a few days or a week in advance (check the comments to this blog if you're afraid you missed an announcement - I'll duplicate the posts there).  Then, at the appointed time and place, I will play an unamplified set for about 45 minutes or so.  There may be surprise guests/other secret fun!  And I pledge to start on time.

This will happen about every two weeks.

There's no obligation.  You don't have to RSVP, there's no charge, and you can come and go (or not) as you please.  I'll be debuting lots of new material, giving away prizes, and generally showing gratitude to folks who show up. You might want to bring a blanket or a folding chair.  Or a picnic!

So, if you want in, you can become a fan of the Stargrazer Facebook page or the myspace page... you'll be in the know!

Get ready, 'cause for the first round... we're going to the beach!

Come swimming with Stargrazer!

I'll be performing a 45 minute set promptly at 3:00 PM on the beach between Saugatuck and Holland this Wednesday (July 30). We're spending the aternoon there catching some sun and sand, you are welcome to join us for the day and enjoy a few never-before-performed songs couched in a setlist that radiates SOLID GOLD. ...And some stupid clever cover songs too. If you can name them all I'll award you a one-of-a-kind prize.

We're departing early in the morning, so sorry, no carpools (with us at least - carpooling with your friends is strongly encouraged). You need a Michigan State Parks pass to access the beach, which you can get when you get there for $6. My performance, however, is so incredibly FREE. And it's one of the most beautiful beaches on Lake Michigan. You need some sun!

Here are maps: http://www.saugatuckdunes.org/ParkMaps

Take the trail from the parking lot to the beach, and turn RIGHT. We'll be around 100 yards down the beach (North, toward the biggest dunes).

Can't make it? Don't fret -- I'll be playing in Lansing next. If you can, join us at the beach. It's summer!

This is the best idea I have heard of. I have wanted to do this as well, but haven't realized its full potential until now. I would love to play sometime as a special guest if you are ever interested. PLaying in trees and odd places is my specialty.

definitely odd enough! I'm all about a late morning set with some coffee, and maybe give out B414 propaganda...
