If you didn't know, my brother (Matt) has wanted to be on the Charlotte Fire Department (CFD) for a long time. Every year the CFD hires about 20-25 new fire fighters. This is usually out of over 2,000+ applicants. Last year my brother applied and made it down to the final steps and was eliminated. The hiring process is very long and tough to get through. There are probably a good 20 steps; starting in the Spring of every year and finalized in mid-fall of the same year. This year my brother made it further than the previous year. And yesterday he found out that he was one of the 20ish that was selected for this years hiring. Officially, he isn't hired yet. He has to get a final physical and medical history and so on. However, he has been selected as one of the few to make it. So, CONGRATS to my brother for being pursistant and trying again even though last year he didn't make it. I know I am very proud, because this is a huge honor and none the less - this will be the start of his career as a Charlotte Fire Fighter!!!
